* 1890 in Berlin geboren. 1924 Auswanderung nach Posiatano in Süditalien, erste keramische Arbeiten. Nach Aufenthalten in Velten bei Berlin und Spanien ging er 1939 nach Thurnau, wo er die „Keramische Werkstatt Stüdemann” gründete. Wie zuvor schon in Italien näherte er sich auch hier dem Töpferhandwerk von der künstlerischen Seite, experimentierte, entwickelt sich stetig weiter und vollzog den Wandel vom Handwerk zum Kunsthandwerk. 1952 erhielt er als erster deutscher Keramiker die Goldmedaille des Bayerischen Staatspreises.
