Die Seiteneingangshöhlen dienen als Schutz- und Rückzugsmöglichkeit für Welse sowie L-Welse wie z.B. L-181 und L183, die den Eingang lieber seitlich haben. 
 Die Seiteneingangshöhlen sind ca. 24 cm lang und haben einen seitlichen Eingang von ca. 7,5cm Durchmesser.  Der gesamte Durchmesser der Seiteneingangshöhle beträgt ca. 9cm. Die Höhlen sind auch ideal für Bepflanzungen von Moos.
 Da die Oberfläche recht porös ist, wächst das Moos sehr schnell und leicht an.

These are plenty big, so your dog will have a good ol' time with it. Probably won't do much else till it's gone. Not sure "chew" is an accurate description, it's more of a gnawing and slobbering kind of process. Drool seems to soften them up. Don't give them one on the bed or couch. They are hard, resilient, and rather dense, but not crunchy; they don't break up like a biscuit would. And the center is sort of like a very stiff taffy. But it took me way more licks than a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop, I can tell you. Our little dogs tackled one that I cut in half, and they did pretty well. But they really are too big for small dogs.
