Das Gemälde ist Teil der aus über 30 Einzelstücken bestehenden Sammlung "Badende" von Thomas Popp. Die Kunstwerke entstanden in den 80ern bis 2002.


Thomas Popp studierte von 1982 bis 1985 Malerei an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München und anschließend Kommunikationsdesign an der FH-München.


Entgegen dem damals vorherrschenden Trend zur Abstraktion entwickelte er schon bald einen figurenstarken Stil, der stark von seinen Vorbildern Otto Dix und vor allem Max Beckmann beinflusst ist.


Inzwischen hat Thomas Popp längst seine eigene wiedererkennbare Handschrift gefunden, die sich in all seinen unterschiedlichen Themen manifestiert.


 

Typische Künstlerthemen wie Portraits, Badende, Landschaften und ganz individuelle Themen wie Großstadt, Kneipenleben, glückliche Tiere, oder Arkadien erarbeitet sich der Künstler durch unzählige Skizzen und verfügt deshalb inzwischen über ein umfangreiches Gesamtwerk.
