Es war an einem Strand in Malibu im Jahr 1988, als Peter Lindbergh die Fotos der White Shirts -Serie aufnahm, die heute legendär sind. Die einfachen, aber bahnbrechenden Aufnahmen machten uns mit Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Rachel Williams, Karen Alexander, Tatjana Patitz und Estelle Lefébure bekannt. Es war der Beginn einer Ära, in der Schönheit neu definiert wurde und der deutsche Fotograf die Landschaft der Modefotografie grundlegend verändern sollte. Dieser großformatige Bildband folgt Lindberghs humanistischem Ansatz und seiner Vorliebe für filmische Inszenierungen, die so verführerische wie introspektive Fotos hervorbrachten, und versammelt mehr als 300 Bilder aus seiner vierzigjährigen Karriere . 1980 bat Rei Kawakubo Lindbergh, eine Commes-des-Garçons-Kampagne zu fotografieren, einen seiner frühen Ausflüge in die Welt der Werbung, wobei ihm Kawakubo völlig freie Hand ließ. Lindberghs Reichweite erstreckte sich bis nach Hollywood und darüber hinaus: In seinen Aufnahmen begegnen wir Cate Blanchett, Charlotte Rampling, Richard Gere, Madonna, Brad Pitt, Catherine Deneuve und Jeanne Moreau . Von seinem berühmten Foto der "Supermodels", das Anna Wintour 1990 zum Titelbild ihrer ersten Vogue -Ausgabe machte, bis hin zur legendären Aufnahme von Tina Turner auf dem Eiffelturm - nie ist es die Kleidung, die Berühmtheit oder der Glamour, der in einem Lindbergh-Foto im Mittelpunkt steht. Jede seiner Aufnahmen vermittelt vielmehr Menschlichkeit und einen Sinn für emotionale Klarheit - eine stille und gefühlvolle Melancholie, die einzigartig und unverkennbar seine Handschrift trägt. Sturdy tool for improving coffee distribution

For those who do not know what this tool does: The Weiss Distribution Technique (WDT) is a distribution method for espresso making, by which you use the tool to stir the coffee while it sits in the portafilter. You should use a portafilter funnel of the same size to avoid spilling grinds. The stirring action breaks up clumps and evens out the density of coffee within the puck. The result is reduced channeling and more even extractions. Who needs this tool: Those without a conical burr grinder, where the oil and variety of grind sizing may cause clumping, will benefit from this tool. Those with a decent conical burr grinder will find minimal benefit from this tool. I'm using a Breville Pro and do not see a huge improvement myself, for example. Quality: The build quality of this tool is excellent. You can add from one to seven needles, with many folks saying three is the sweet spot for best distribution. I've been using it for over a month and none of the needles have bent. The stand is solid aluminum and well-made, but it doubles as a protector of the needles. I just clean with a quick rinse and a wipe before returning it to its stand. Outcome: I did not realize most of the info above until after purchase. So my puck is solid, the pull is clean, and my coffee tastes great with a Breville Pro. However, this tool has a minimal amount to do with that. It is a worthwhile tool for those with a lower-end grinder, especially non-Burr grinders, and it is aesthetically-pleasing and well-made, which is why I rate it 5 stars overall. It also is of good value compared to more expensive variants.

Makes a difference but maybe only to caffeine addled coffee snobs

I won't say that everyone urgently needs one of these. This is helped me up my game. Perhaps not absolutely necessary, but it noticeably reduces canalization and improves extraction. And it appears to have improved not only my espresso, but my pour-overs and my Mokapot (especially the Mokapot!). It's a little fiddley to assemble - there's sets of springs and needles - but once you get it all locked down, its very tight. There's a set of spares - I can't imagine needing them. The tool kinda sits in the weighted base, but it appears to stay put in my cabinet.

WDT Tool: The Needle in My Espresso Haystack

I kind of went down a deep dive researching these WDT (Weiss Distribution Technique) tools, and I have to say, this one hits the sweet spot! The needle size is just right, and the shape is spot on for what I need. Plus, it’s a nice perk that you can remove and replace the needles. I’ve tried using needles and bobby pins in the past, but they were too thick and just ended up creating their own channels—talk about a brewing disaster!
