Das Valtellina liegt im nördlichen Teil Italiens und ist ein kleines, aber bemerkenswertes Weinanbaugebiet mit langer Geschichte und einzigartigem Charakter. Die bekannteste Rebsorte im Veltlin ist Nebbiolo, vor Ort auch Chiavennasca genannt. Nebbiolo ist die gleiche Traube, die für die berühmten Barolo- und Barbaresco-Weine verantwortlich ist. Im Veltlin erhält er aufgrund des Terroirs und Mikroklimas der Region einen einzigartigen Charakter. Die Reben wachsen auf 500 Metern Höhe; Der Name leitet sich vom Namen einer kleinen Ortschaft der Gemeinde Teglio ab, in dem die Familie Fay einige Grundstücke besass. 

Rebsorte: Nebbiolo (Chiavenasca)

Wein machen: Alkoholische Gärung im Edelstahltank; Malolaktische Gärung und Reifung für 12 Monate in 30-Liter-Eichenfässern und 500-Liter-Eichenfässern. Reifung für 18 Monate in der Flasche.

Geschmacksnoten: Rubinrote Farbe mit granatroten Reflexen. Nase: Reichhaltige Palette von Hagebutten, Himbeermarmelade, Wassermelone, Unterholz mit einem Hauch von Zeder, Tinte und mineralischen Pinselstrichen. Am Gaumen: frisch, tanninhaltig, anhaltend.

Essensempfehlung: gereifter Käse, Hauptgerichte mit rotem Fleisch, Fleischvorspeisen

Alkoholgehalt: 14.50% Vol.
