Der wirtschaftliche Aufstieg Sachsens zum selbst ernannten Klassenprimus in Ostdeutschland ging vor allem auf Kurt Biedenkopfs Imagepolitik zurück und wirkt lange nach. Das Bild einer Staatsregierung, die vermeintlich alles im Griff hatte, passte nicht zu dem politischen Kräftefeld, in dem sich der Freistaat gegenüber der Bundesregierung und der Treuhandanstalt bewegte. Dierk Hoffmann untersucht die Kommunikations- und Privatisierungsstrategien der Landesregierung in Dresden sowie den Aushandlungsprozess bei der Privatisierung sächsischer Betriebe. Und er zeigt, wie Biedenkopf seine neoliberalen Leitbilder dem Transformationsprozess anzupassen versuchte.
