Der Hampden Estate aus Jamaika ist ein besonders vielschichtiger und würzig-fruchtiger Melasserum. Gebrannt wurde der Rum in der Hampden Estate Distillery und reift danach für 8 Jahre in Eichenfässern.

Auch sonst zeigt sich der britische Einfluss noch heute in der Produktion: so wird Rum auf Jamaika in kupfernen Brennblasen, sogenannten Pot Stills, hergestellt. Das sorgt für ein schwereres Destillat. Bei Hampden kommen unter anderem zwei Brennblasen aus dem schottischen Traditionshaus Forsyths zum Einsatz. Damit unterscheidet sich jamaikanischer Rum deutlich von Rums aus spanisch- oder französischsprachigen Teilen der Karibik. 

Dieser Hampden Rum reifte für mindestens 8 Jahre in ehemaligen Bourbonfässern auf Jamaika. Was Hampden von anderen Rums positiv absetzt: Weder Zucker, Vanillin noch Glycerin wurde zur nachträglichen Süßung des Rums beigemischt.
