In den 1990er-Jahren strömten queere Jugendliche, gesellschaftliche Außenseiter*innen und Künstler*innen nach San Francisco, um mit Kunst, Stil, Identität und Geschlecht zu experimentieren. Bezahlbare Mieten ebneten den Weg für queere Bars, Clubs, Tattoo-Shops, Galerien, Cafés, Buchläden und von Frauen geführte Unternehmen. Eine neue Welle des Feminismus war offen für das Ausloten von Geschlechteridentitäten und die Butch/Femme-Kultur erlebte einen Höhepunkt. Der Mission District wurde zum Zentrum dieser von einem starken Gemeinschaftsgefühl geprägten Szene. Chloe Sherman war sowohl Mitglied dieser Community als auch deren leidenschaftliche Chronistin. Ihr dokumentarfotografisches Werk auf 35-mm-Film hält die Lebendigkeit, die Zärtlichkeit, die Individualität und die Widerstandskraft innerhalb dieser von der Mehrheitsgesellschaft verhöhnten Subkultur fest. Ihre erste Monografie fängt den rebellischen Geist dieser Zeit ein und bietet ein unverstelltes Porträt einer zukunftsweisenden Ära.CHLOE SHERMAN (*1969, New York) kam 1991 nach San Francisco, um am San Francisco Art Institute Fine Art-Fotografie zu studieren. Ihre Arbeiten wurden international ausgestellt und in Zeitschriften wie Rolling Stone und Interview veröffentlicht. Ihre Dokumentarfotografie ist stark von ihrer künstlerischen Ausbildung beeinflusst.

Highly comical

This book is simply amazing. I have stopped, wondering about comics and begun mastering them. The author is always amazing. I’ve read most of her work and I can hardly highly recommend them. especially her novel Cruddy it was the best!

This Book Will Make You Happy
Format: Paperback
This book is beautiful, inspiring and uplifting. I happen to be someone who never drew very but wants to draw again. It's perfect for me. However, even if I didn't have an interest in drawing, the art, stories and information are compelling and warm. I truly believe anyone will enjoy this book.
I first learned of the amazing Lynda Barry when I was a kid reading Ernie Pook's Comeek. I have since read everything Lynda Barry has ever published - and every bit is a treasure. There is a kindness, wisdom, openness and compassion in everything she does. For me, her work is like a tonic and a salve. This book comes to me at the perfect time - the most painful and difficult year of my life. It is powerful and soothing.
This is a work you will love and go back to again and again.

Such a fun book
Format: Paperback
If you are looking to get back into drawing or just spark creativity, this is the perfect book to get started with. It's not necessarily a direct instruction book - so you need to be patient and EXPLORE.
The only thing that would make it more perfect is if someone came up with a deck of attendance card prompts for when you run out of your own ideas!

Get it if you love the xmen

If you wanna start the new 2024 xmen run then this is the one you wanna start with. I liked it a lot. They make Cyclops pretty intense in it
