Real-Time Display, PID Control, Cordless Power

When you’re professionally managing varroa across dozens of hives, every detail of your treatment matters. Temperature variations of even 10°C can mean the difference between complete varroa knockdown and ineffective treatment—a battery. Not being able to monitor battery voltage means surprise shutdowns mid-apiary. And the cool-down lag between hives eats up your working day. The InstantVap 18V Turbo Cordless Vaporizer eliminates all of these problems with professional-grade precision you can actually see and trust.

This is the premium flagship of the InstantVap range. Built around an accurate, solid-state relay PID temperature control system with real-time temperature display on a digital panel — letting you see exactly what’s happening at every moment. The voltage indicator monitors your battery in real time. The insulated furnace handles cold, windy outdoor conditions without sacrificing accuracy. And the enhanced deep discharge protection auto-shuts at 15.4V and won’t restart below 17.2V — genuinely protecting your expensive power tool batteries. At $929.95, it’s the tool serious commercial beekeepers reach for when treatment quality cannot be compromised.

What Makes the Turbo Worth the Premium Price?

Compared to the InstantVap Compact ($780), the Turbo delivers four genuine upgrades that matter to professional beekeepers:

  • Real-time digital temperature display — see the exact temperature at every moment, not just LED status modes; critical for verifying treatment quality
  • Solid-state relay PID temperature control — dramatically more precise temperature regulation than standard thermostats; ideal for users who need consistent treatment quality
  • Voltage indicator — monitor battery health in real time; prevents surprise shutdowns mid-apiary, protects your power tool batteries from deep discharge
  • Insulated furnace — superior performance in cold and windy outdoor conditions (vs the Compact’s double-wall design)

For hobbyists with a handful of hives, the Compact at $780 is an excellent value. For commercial beekeepers, pollination contractors, queen breeders, and anyone treating professionally, the Turbo’s additional precision is worth every dollar.

Why Does PID Control Matter?

PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control is the same temperature-regulation technology used in industrial manufacturing, precision lab equipment, and high-end cooking. Standard thermostats are on/off devices — they overshoot the target temperature, cool below it, then reheat. The result is a ±15°C temperature wobble around the target. PID control continuously calculates and adjusts heating power to maintain precisely 230°C — the scientifically optimal vaporisation temperature for oxalic acid. The result: consistent treatment quality on every hive, no degraded oxalic acid from overheating, no incomplete vaporisation from undertemping, and no waiting for cool-down between hives.

What Battery Brands Work With the Turbo?

Choose ONE battery brand at checkout from these 8 supported options:

  • Milwaukee® M18
  • Makita® LXT
  • Dewalt® XR 18/20V, FlexVolt 20/60V or 18/54V
  • Bosch® GBA/ProCore 18V
  • Metabo® 18V
  • Einhell® Power X Change
  • Parkside® X20V-TEAM — the Aldi Australia tool range

Important: the Turbo is only compatible with one battery brand — the one you select at checkout. Choose the brand of power tools you already own. Batteries and chargers are NOT included — use your existing 18V/20V power tool battery range.

How Many Hives Can I Treat Per Charge?

Battery efficiency: approximately 1Ah for the initial warm-up, then each subsequent 1Ah of battery delivers approximately 10 × 2-gram treatments at 20°C ambient temperature. Practical implications:

  • 2Ah battery: ~10 hive treatments per charge after warm-up
  • 4Ah battery: ~30 hive treatments per charge
  • 5Ah battery: ~40 hive treatments per charge
  • 8Ah battery: ~70 hive treatments per charge — ideal for commercial sideliners

For larger operations, carrying 2 batteries on rotation lets you continue treating uninterrupted while the spare charges. The voltage indicator provides precise, real-time battery health monitoring — unlike basic LED warning systems, you can see exactly when it’s time to swap.

How Fast Is Each Treatment?

25–30 seconds per hive for a 2-gram dose of oxalic acid. Combined with no cool-down delays between hives (thanks to PID control), this translates to 100–140 hives per working day for a commercial operator with battery rotation. The real-time temperature display lets you verify the operating temperature visually before dispensing — zero guesswork, every treatment confirmed correct. Hive 1 and Hive 140 receive identical treatment quality — the consistency that commercial varroa management demands.

How Does the Real-Time Display Work?

The digital control panel shows you everything happening inside the vaporiser:

  • Current temperature — live reading of the actual furnace temperature in real time
  • Set temperature — pre-set at 230°C, the scientifically optimal vaporisation point for oxalic acid
  • Battery voltage — real-time voltage indicator, monitoring battery health continuously
  • Operational status — clear indication when ready for treatment, vaporising, or shut down

The display is clearly readable at working distance — no bending down, no squinting, no guessing. For experienced beekeepers managing multiple sites and treatment sessions, this verifiable consistency is the difference between professional and amateur varroa management.

Why Is Deep Discharge Protection a Big Deal?

Power tool batteries cost $100–300 each, and discharging them below their minimum safe voltage permanently damages them. A standard vaporiser will pull power until your battery dies, potentially destroying it. The Turbo has two layers of intelligent battery protection: (1) Auto-shutdown at 15.4V — the device stops drawing power before damaging discharge; (2) Lockout below 17.2V — you can’t accidentally restart with a partially-damaged battery. The real-time voltage indicator lets you swap batteries proactively, well before any auto-shutdown. Result: your power tool batteries stay healthy for years of vaporiser use.

What Practical Features Make It Field-Ready?

Every detail is engineered for working beekeepers:

  • Acid-resistant stainless steel — frame and dispenser won’t corrode from oxalic acid contact
  • Self-supporting in a hive hole — sits stable; just position and monitor the display
  • Tool-free 1–4g roll-on dispenser — adjust doses between treatments without unscrewing
  • 6mm replaceable brass spout — strong, won’t clog (no pipe bend), entire length accessible for cleaning, replaceable if damaged
  • Insulated furnace — reliable performance in cold and windy weather (autumn varroa treatment in southern states)
  • Requires 7mm hive entrance hole — standard size, drill once for repeated use
  • Single dispenser included — you can purchase spares separately if you operate multiple sites or rotate doses

Turbo vs Compact — Which Should I Buy?

Both InstantVap models deliver excellent varroa treatment. Choose based on your treatment scale and quality requirements:

  • Choose the Turbo (this product, $929.95): if you treat 50+ hives, run a commercial operation, manage pollination contracts, want real-time temperature verification, need consistent PID-controlled quality, or value precision over price
  • Choose the Compact ($780): if you treat 10–50 hives, are upgrading from manual treatments, want true portability with no compromise on results, or own 18V power tool batteries from Hikoki, AEG, or Ridgid (Turbo doesn’t support these brands)
  • Pro tip: verification, monitoring, and battery protection, not vaporisation performance itself. Hobbyists may not need the extras; commercial operators absolutely do.

Who Is the Turbo Built For?

The Turbo is the choice of serious professional beekeepers who treat varroa for a living. It’s especially valuable for commercial beekeepers managing 100+ hives needing audit-ready treatment consistency, pollination contractors treating large numbers of hives in tight timeframes, queen breeders maintaining breeder/mating colonies where varroa control directly affects breeding outcomes, migratory beekeepers treating hives across multiple sites in working days, beekeeping service providers offering varroa treatment to client apiaries, and research beekeepers needing temperature-verified treatment documentation. If you treat fewer than 50 hives, the InstantVap Compact may be the better fit — see our comparison Q&A above.

Absolute game changer for chronically dry feet/cracked heels
Size: S (up to size 7)-Beige
I had recently bought a pair of silicone heel/ankle wraps to fill out my boot a little since I noticed my heels were lifting when I was skating. I tested them out around the house and noticed they left my heels softer while the rest of my sockless feet got quite dry. So I got these full foot silicone socks to see the effect of having my whole foot covered. I slather the entirety of my feet with Dr. Scholl's Severe Cracked Heel Restoring Balm (love how convenient it is to apply it to my feet with the solid stick form) and then slip them into these silicone socks. After just a couple hours, when I pull out my feet they're (a teeny bit sweaty at first), but then overall soft and smooth and have absorbed the balm fully leaving barely any residue in the silicone sock. I find these silicone socks generally comfortable; I wear them in the evenings while relaxing on the couch, take them off after a couple hours and let my feet breathe a bit, and then reapply my balm and socks and wear them to bed. If I wake up in the middle of the night, which I almost always do (not because of the socks), I'll take the socks off and allow my feet to breathe again. I wear a woman's size 6 shoe and the small size is pretty comfortable. However, I made the mistake of wearing them while being on my feet for a couple hours straight during household chores -- they must've somehow cut off my circulation a bit with the standing, so I wouldn't recommend wearing these silicone socks while being active. And since they're not exactly my foot size, they slide around sometimes and will start to feel tight at my big toe. But if that happens, I just tug on the toe area of the sock to give my big toe more wiggle room and problem solved. Prior to wearing these socks, I was soaking and doing heavy duty exfoliation of my feet every week. These socks seem like they'll work to help me extend the time between soakings and exfoliations. The 5 pack is a great value. So far none have torn, so they seem rather durable. Not sure what I could even do to tear a hole in these.

EXCELLENT FEET MOISTURE PROTECTION
Size: S (up to size 7)-Beige, Size: S (up to size 7)-Beige
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have burns on my feet and needed something that I could put burn creme on and still walk around in with. I tried other silicone footsie but they would teae really easily. So far these are doing really well for this purpose. They are holding their shape too. The only caution I have is the same with all silicone footsies: They can be slippery on wet floors, so also wear with socks over them. The biggest issues is when they say a size they mean it. The silicone used in these have little give in them, so they won't stretch out and loose their shape. That can be a good thing, or not so good, depending on how well they fit your feet and what your intent is with wearing these. The other issue is if they fit snug around those toes, that tends to be where the first tear in the material will happen. Because of how these are made, the tear is actually more like cracking in the material and once it occurs you won't be able to get much use out of the sock after that. If you are planning to wear them around the house or for long term use, I suggest going up a size or look for the toeless options.
