- The Mugongo Society of Warriors is responsible for the protection of the Salampasu communities; members of society protect against invasion by rival clans or other outside forces. To become a member of Mugongo, the boys of Salampasu must be circumcised and go through its various initiation sub-societies, the highest of which is the society called Matambu (within which the highest level of initiate is called the Mukish ).
- Each initiation sub-society has an associated mask type that boys have access to after completing the initiation level and paying an initiation fee. Associated with the Ibuku initiation level, Kasangu masks are only accessible to warriors who have killed and beheaded an enemy in combat.

- Provenance: Very impressive Belgian collection of objects from Congo DRC (Luba, Hemba, Buyu, Songye, etc.) collected in the 50s to 70s when the collector was resident in Kinshasa.

Great suit combo and for a great price. Bought this for a wizard of oz themed fundraiser for my hubby who went as the wizard. Received many compliments! My husband is 6’ 2”, about 230, and this is an XL, so it runs really slim. He has a long torso, and his pant length is 30”, so the pants are a little long, but easily fixed! Highly recommend!
