Colin Angas was quick to realise the potential for the Eden Valley to be an exceptional region for Riesling and planted a vineyard on a gentle slope in the 1960’s. Whilst considered a single vineyard, there are two distinct sections. The top section planted on the leanest soils and more exposed to the wind produces very tightly structured fruit with crisp, vibrant acidity. The bottom section, on deeper, more vigorous red soils produces plumper bunches of fruit that showcases more fresh aromatics and citrus zing. Vintage: 2023 Variety: Riesling Region: Eden Valley Vineyard: Single Vineyard, Hutton Vale Farm Picking date: 30th March 2023 Tech Analysis: Alc vol.: 12.5% pH: 3.22 Winemaking: A long and cool spring with good rainfall and mild summer conditions meant that the fruit for this wine was picked a few weeks later than normal. An early morning harvest had the fruit delivered to the winery in pristine the condition. After pressing, the Riesling juice was fermented cool in stainless steel for 21 days to retain freshness and aromatic intensity in the finished wine. Cellaring: Drink cold now on a hot day or, if you have the patience, squirrel a few away to be rewarded over the next 5-10 years. 2023 Hutton Vale Farm Riesling (Dry Style)
