  • 3× Carburetor Repair Kits (as shown in product images)
  • All essential gaskets, diaphragms, and seals for complete carburetor overhaul

Installation Guide

  1. Disconnect the fuel line and remove the carburetor assembly from the engine following your service manual. Clean the exterior before disassembly.
  2. Carefully disassemble the carburetor, noting the position and orientation of each component. Take photos if needed for reassembly reference.
  3. Remove all old gaskets, diaphragms, and seals from the carburetor body and cover plates. Inspect internal passages for debris or corrosion.
  4. Clean all metal components with carburetor cleaner and compressed air, ensuring all fuel passages are clear. Do not use wire brushes on delicate surfaces.
  5. Install new gaskets and seals from the rebuild kit in the exact positions of the old components. Ensure proper alignment to prevent air leaks.
  6. Replace diaphragms with new units from the kit, ensuring they seat correctly in their recesses without wrinkles or folds.
  7. Reassemble the carburetor carefully, tightening screws in a cross-pattern to specified torque settings from your service manual.
  8. Reinstall the carburetor onto the engine, ensuring all mounting surfaces are clean and gaskets are properly seated.
  9. Reconnect the fuel line and check for leaks before starting the engine. Prime the fuel system if necessary.
  10. Start the engine and adjust idle mixture and speed according to factory specifications. Allow the engine to warm up fully.
  11. Test throttle response at various RPM ranges to ensure smooth operation. Re-check for any fuel leaks around carburetor seams.
  12. Perform a final inspection after the first hour of operation, retightening fasteners if needed and verifying no fuel seepage occurs.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Q: How do I confirm this rebuild kit fits my specific Mercury carburetor?
A: Cross-reference your engine's horsepower and WMK series number with the compatibility table above. You can also verify your engine's serial number using the Mercury Serial Number Guide and check exploded parts diagrams to confirm the OEM part number 1395-5109-1 matches your carburetor.

Q: What are the signs that my carburetor needs to be rebuilt?
A: Common symptoms include hard starting, rough idling, poor acceleration, excessive fuel consumption, fuel leaking from carburetor seams, or the engine stalling at low RPM. If diaphragms have hardened or gaskets are compressed and leaking, a rebuild kit will restore proper fuel metering and sealing.

Q: How often should I rebuild my carburetor?
A: Rebuild frequency depends on usage and fuel quality. For recreational use, inspect carburetor components every 2–3 years or every 200–300 hours of operation. If you notice performance issues or store your engine for extended periods with ethanol fuel, more frequent rebuilds may be necessary.

Q: Can I install this kit without special tools?
A: Most carburetor rebuilds require only basic hand tools like screwdrivers, wrenches, and carburetor cleaner. However, proper disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly technique is critical—consult your engine's service manual for torque specs and adjustment procedures, or have a qualified marine technician perform the work.

Q: Will this kit work on all three carburetors if my engine has multiple carbs?
A: Yes, this package includes three complete repair kits, which is ideal for engines equipped with multiple inline carburetors (common on higher-horsepower Mercury models). Each kit contains all necessary gaskets and diaphragms for one carburetor.

Q: Is this an OEM part or an aftermarket replacement?
A: This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.

Q: How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
A: We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.

Q: What is your warranty and return policy?
A: This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.

Glad I pulled the trigger on this.
I was researching many similar A/V Receivers and reviews for all were about the same I felt. Some would keep the first one they bought (around 1k range or less) and others would return them and buy a different brand that was in the price same range. I was able to buy this model for the cheaper price that has popped up at $565.94 (before tax). I read a review at Cnet Best AV Receivers for 2024. I normally use a grain of salt when reading reviews at sites like Cnet but since I couldn't find what I felt was a real end user consensus of go with this one not that one I then based my purchase off this line from the Cnet review "If you're spending under $1,000, there are four main receivers to choose from -- the Sony STR-AN1000, the Yamaha RX-V6A, the Onkyo TX-NR6100 and the Denon AVR-970H. All offer excellent performance, so the short answer about which to buy is whichever is available for the lowest price." That stuck with me since I did get this for cheaper than the Onkyo TX-NR6100 (a brand I would consider first). If I had more in my budget I might have gone with the more expensive Onkyo TX-RZ50 due to it's great reviews as well but this Sony STR-AN1000 does have a bunch of future proof features that I wanted. So far I am impressed with the Sony STR-AN1000 and have not seen any downside. I did pair this system with Klipsch Reference Series 5.2 Home Theater Pack with 2X R-625FA Floorstanding Speakers, R-52C Center Channel Speaker, 2X R-41M Bookshelf Speakers (as found on Amazon). That also comes with 1xReference R-12SW 12" Subwoofer. So far it has been great! Based on my research I would recommend you buy Oxygen Free Pure Copper wire instead of slightly cheaper 2 Core Parallel (Stranded CCA) Copper Clad Aluminum Wire Strands (for example). The cheaper ones that aren't pure Copper that may not deliver as well. That is going to be based on your own personal experience but I suggest spend once for something and not twice. I did not buy any banana clips to use with this receiver but I also forgot how much of a pain it can be unscrewing the caps and having to thread the speaker wire. SO I might suggest that if are on the fence about such a purchase. We only use Blu-ray or internet based streaming options with our setup through a Chromecast Ultra. I tested my Blu-ray of Ghostbusters Frozen Empire. The intro with the thunder and lightning could be felt and heard just like what I would expect in real life using this receiver and speaker setup. The system has no issue sending 2160p 4K HDR content through to the TV and of course the 5.1, Dolby Atoms, etc through as stated for support in documentation. I have not taken the system beyond a volume for 40 for testing different audio sources as I am breaking in the new speakers but the delivery really starts jumping up at about 34. I decided to switch from using sound bar systems to a full A/V Receiver and proper speaker setup due to sound bar systems underdelivering (even at the higher prices) or killing themselves due to trapped heat (I am talking about my personal experience with LG). Yes the initial cost is more but there is a difference between hearing what you are watching and experiencing it and longevity of product. I plan to keep this setup of mine for as long as possible and do not currently anticipate any need to replace short of conditions out of my control. I would recommend based on pricing or your personal preference of brands.

TERRIBLE Home Theater AVR, Difficult to Use
TERRIBLE Home Theater AVR. I bought this based on the many very high level reviews and recommendations available on multiple sites. What a mistake. This unit is very difficult to use, and that is made even worse by Sony's BS proprietary insistence to not let their remotes work with any other brands of equipment except their own! After setup, I find there is no default input selection after startup of the AVR, not even the commonly seen default to the last used input. What this means is that EVERY TIME I want to use any audio or video unit with this AVR, I must first use the AVR remote to select the input, THEN put it down and find a different remote to use for whatever unit I want to watch. What a PAIN in the rear! The next totally unacceptable issue is that every time an input is changed, there are about 5 odd low-frequency thumps from the speakers - this has NEVER happened before with other AVRs and the same equipment, so this problem is very specif to this horrible amplifier. Other irritants are that the AVR display shows many almost meaningless things that are of no particular value, but they have removed ALL indications of what speakers are currently active for whatever input is being received. In addition to that, this AVR does not properly decode some input types that it is supposed to support (based on using format-specific test files). Another issue is that the input setting on my smart TV for this AVR does not stay Active while the TV is using a different input, despite the fact that the amplifier is always on, and the TV audio output IS constantly using the AVR for the speakers. This is somewhat related to the first problem I noted - since the TV does not think that the AVR is turned on, I cannot use the TV to select that input; I have to GO BACK to the nasty Sony remote just long enough to change inputs AGAIN, then put down that remote and switch to another. Again, I repeat that this behavior has NOT occurred with other AVRs tested in this Home Theater, only this one, and it makes life miserable. Even when I turn on a different connected device that uses HDMI Control to turn on the AVR, this brain-dead unit will NOT switch to that input after it powers on - I still have to manually make that switch with the Sony remote! Another issue is the inability to use a normal coax or balanced FM antenna input on this receiver - they give you a little single wire antenna that uses a strange miniature plug that is totally worthless in my area - cannot pick up a single station! And there is no way to connect my outdoor antenna like I have been able to do with every other receiver!!!!!

Sounds great and the 360 spatial sound mapping is amazing.
I was very happy with my previous AVR, but when it failed I took the opportunity to get up to date and after some research I settled on this. I am so happy I did. The positive reviews were not lying. This AVR sounds down right amazing considering the price point. Love the Chromecast feature as well as the Spotify integration. However, it's the movie audio that really shines. After the very short calibration, their 360 spatial sound mapping when switched on really makes such a huge difference. Most of us will not be able to make a dedicated theater room, so this do the corrections for speaker placement is next level. Not to mention their virtual speaker placement technology. I don't know how it's done, but when I 1st used it, this thing had me amazed at sound placement from areas where the sound should be coming from, but I know I had no speaker there. Even the short calibration was impressive. At the end of the process it knows not only where you are in relation to listening position, but it also knows exactly where each and every speaker is relative to each other in the room including their height. Remarkable. OCD me verified the measurements which you can displayed, with a laser measuring tool. Now my biggest issue is that I now feel the need to go through all my movie collection to hear the difference.

Product does not function as befits a brand name like Sony
Review updated after TWO returns to the repair center and MANY calls to both Support and the CS Escalation department: I'M STILL NOT PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT. During startup, this receiver bounces back and forth from input source to input source as if I triggered a roulette wheel. Where will it finally stop? In my case, I most often use Video input. Sometimes during startup, it will momentarily display the Video input as expected, but will then start jumping/fishing around to other inputs types, including those I've never used. Eventually, it may return to the Video input, but it will not display the actual video or audio content. Instead, it just displays a black banner that reads VIDEO. I then have to turn the receiver off and on again hoping that maybe it will work this time. Neither Sony's escalation Team, nor the repair facility will answer the simple question, "What SHOULD it do when I first turn it on?" In addition, on at least two occasions, during startup, I saw PLEASEWAIT written across the display for 75 seconds before the device actually started up OR rebooted. (Note: THIS issue appears to be resolved by the repair center replacing a circuit board.) Another related annoyance is that when video content changes (e.g., from a show to a commercial, back to a commercial on YouTube), each break in the chain displays 5+ seconds of black screen even though you can hear the audio. This doesn't sound like much, but when it does this every time, it gets annoying AND is infinitely longer than my previous 10 y/o receiver.) About 2-3 times an hour, while viewing consistent content from the same input, the screen will suddenly go black, then the audio drops out, and then it will flash a HDCP 2.3 warning blue screen. Unacceptable! In short, and IMHO, the audio quality is very good, but basic functionality is SEVERELY clunky. Again, IMHO, this product should have NEVER gone to market. The combination of poor functionality AND a dismal customer experience forever diminishes Sony's former world-class brand status. P.S.: Sony's Escalation department told me that they simply DO NOT provide refunds if you've had the product more than 30 days. So make sure that you test ALL functionality as soon as it arrives. Caveat emptor.
