Vintage 18K Gold Tiffany & Co. X Necklace by Angela Cummings

This vintage 18k two-toned gold diamond X necklace is a masterpiece by Angela Cummings for Tiffany & Co as part of the 1975-1976 collection. The exquisite design consists of 43 gold links with a high-polish finish and one white gold, diamond encrusted link. The links are connected at the top corners of the X, allowing it to flow open at the bottom and lay fluidly on the neck. The white gold X has an off-center placement, bringing a bit of asymmetry to the necklace (though the white X can be worn anywhere on the piece). The necklace is the epitome of timeless elegance—a classic design that is bold and modern. The blocky X’s are sophisticated, clean, and precise, while evoking whimsical imagery like garland or magnetic lettering. The impeccable craftsmanship expresses both artistry and luxury; this is an iconic vintage piece that is hard to find and in pristine condition. 

Tiffany & Co. is known for variations of their X, or kiss, themed jewelry. Each of their top designers had their own take on the X, including Angela Cummings, Paloma Picasso, and Jean Schlumberger. Angela Cummings began her career at Tiffany & Co. in 1968, and by 1975 had launched a collection under her name. Her work incorporates themes of nature, including her infamous rose petal necklace. 

The necklace contains eight natural diamonds. Each diamond measures 2 mm. They are F-G in color and VVS in clarity. The TCW is approximately 0.3 carats. 

The necklace is 15” long and 5/16” wide. It weighs 53 grams. It is secured with a hidden clasp and safety closure. The necklace is marked with Tiffany & Co., the copyright, and 18k. While it is not marked as Angela Cummings, other versions of the same pattern are signed with her name, so this is known to be one of her designs. The necklace comes in an original light blue Tiffany & Co. pouch. The pouch has age-appropriate wear, but the necklace is in like-new condition, as if it has never been worn!
