COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Safe Work Practices for Client Care course. This program will equip you with the knowledge, legal understanding, risk-management skills, and practical safety procedures required to work safely and responsibly in community services and client-care environments. You will explore WHS legislation, duty-of-care responsibilities, common workplace hazards, infection control risks, personal safety considerations, musculoskeletal safety, emergency procedures, and the operational practices that ensure safety for both workers and clients. This course also highlights reporting requirements, the use of PPE, workplace inspections, and the integration of WHS procedures into everyday job tasks.

This course begins by examining state and territory WHS legislation and how these laws shape workplace regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards. You will explore the rights and responsibilities of employers and workers, including duty of care, and how these obligations apply directly to client-care settings. This section also covers safety symbols and their meanings, the common workplace hazards associated with hazardous manual tasks, and the workplace procedures used to identify hazards. You will then explore strategies for minimising risks, the safety considerations required when working in community service environments, and the rights and responsibilities of both workers and clients.

The next learning area focuses on fire safety and high-risk groups. You will explore behaviour that contributes to fire injury and fatalities, the common workplace hazards that relate to infection control, and the risks to personal safety in client-care settings. This section also examines the common sources of infection and the measures used to minimise the transfer of infectious diseases, including hygiene practices, environmental cleaning, and safe handling of clinical waste.

A further learning area examines the musculoskeletal system and safe manual-handling practices. You will explore the fundamentals of musculoskeletal anatomy, how injuries occur, and the safe practices that minimise injury to workers and clients. This section includes principles of body mechanics, the safe use of equipment, and how to avoid strain during lifting, transferring, and supporting clients.

Another learning area focuses on emergencies, WHS policies, and incident management. You will explore workplace emergency procedures, the common workplace hazards associated with personal safety risks, and how organisational policies and procedures guide WHS practices. This section also examines the correct selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), how to report incidents accurately, and how to contribute to workplace WHS meetings or inspections by providing observations, feedback, and hazard information.

A further learning area examines risk assessment and integration of safety into everyday tasks. You will explore how to conduct a workplace risk assessment and record the results, how to apply safety procedures in day-to-day work activities, and how WHS principles guide routine interactions with clients. This section also reinforces how to follow workplace procedures for emergency situations, including evacuation, medical emergencies, and client-related incidents.

The final learning area highlights how effective WHS practice requires continuous communication, awareness, documentation, and adherence to procedures. You will explore how safety culture is strengthened when workers understand their legislative obligations, follow established protocols, and proactively identify and report risks.

By the end of this course you will be able to understand legislative WHS requirements, identify hazards, minimise risks, maintain infection-control standards, follow safe manual-handling practices, use PPE correctly, report incidents, participate in WHS processes, perform risk assessments, and apply safe work procedures across all client-care activities.

Great chair, highly recommend!
Color: Cream, Size: PU Leather(No Wheels), Color: Cream, Size: PU Leather(No Wheels)
Very nice looking chair! It is comfortable, classy, and durable unless you have a cat like mine who used it for his claws. It was easy to put together. All of the hardware was of good quality and everything fit perfectly. My 14 year old daughter even put it together herself. We actually bought two of these. The other one is in my daughter‘s room for her vanity. I highly recommend them whether you’re buying it to sit crisscross or just for roomy comfort. It is a very comfortable chair and looks elegant.

New Favorite Desk Chair
This chair is exactly what I was looking for! It is simple to put together, very sturdy and very comfortable. I typically tend to sit criss cross while at my desk and I can do that very comfortably with it. Im a bigger girlie so a chair that can hold weight or deal with me shifting positions was very important to me.

Comfortable chair
Color: Cream, Size: PU Leather(No Wheels)
Ordered this chair for my daughter for Christmas. It's a great chair. It's very comfortable. She wishes it had wheels. I didn't see a way to add wheels to this base, either. Still a good chair. You have to make sure where you put it you can spin to get out of it. Pushing it back and forth on carpet doesn't work well.

Great Office Chair
I purchased this chair to replace the old one in my son's room. I really like the look and style of this chair. It was easy for me to assemble and the riser functions really good and the stability of the base is very good. I like the wide design as it has more back support and seat support.

Comfortable, Stylish, and Great for Casual Seating
The OLIXIS Criss Cross Legged Chair is a really nice option if you prefer sitting cross-legged or want a wider, more relaxed seating style compared to a traditional office chair. The armless design and wide seat make it easy to shift positions throughout the day without feeling restricted. Comfort-wise, the padding is decent and supportive for short to moderate sitting sessions. The adjustable height and swivel function work smoothly, and it’s easy to find a comfortable position whether you’re working at a desk, doing makeup, or just using it casually in a bedroom or home office setup. The minimalist look is also a plus—it blends well with modern decor and doesn’t take up as much visual space as bulky office chairs. Assembly was fairly straightforward and didn’t take long. One thing to note is that since it has no wheels, it’s not ideal if you need to move around your workspace frequently. Also, while it’s comfortable, it may not be the best choice for long, full workdays compared to a high-back ergonomic chair with more lumbar support. Overall, this is a stylish and functional chair that works great for light office use, studying, or casual seating—especially if you like the criss-cross sitting position.
