❤️ Artist Note

I wanted to capture the essence of the Soccer World Cup coming to Texas—in a way that feels unmistakably Texas. I began with a textured background inspired by a sun-washed Texas flag. The subtle red, white, and blue palette evokes a sense of nostalgia, pride, and place.

Using negative painting, I introduced the quiet silhouette of a cowboy (or cowgirl) boot kicking a soccer ball—bringing together two worlds that define this moment: tradition and global sport. It was important to me that neither element overpowered the other, but instead existed in balance.

The dusty blue and soft gray-white tones add a rustic, weathered feel that grounds the piece. For me, this painting speaks directly to the heart of Texas—where heritage, identity, and celebration come together.
