St Francis Herb Farm - Virafect -100 Millitre(s) - NPN: 80054907

Tackles viral infections related to cold and flu
Especially if experiencing symptoms of fever/headache
Contains Andrographis PLUS 6 other powerful, specifically antiviral herbs

Who It’s For: Children and Adults 2 years of age and older

Use For:

  • Viral respiratory infections that need more healing punch than just echinacea
  • Sore throat and fever that accompany upper respiratory infections of a viral nature

How It Works: This formula is based on the powerful infection-fighting properties of andrographis PLUS six antiseptic, immune-enhancing herbs.

Also featured prominently is lomatium, a highly potent antiviral herb used by the Washoe tribe in Nevada to dramatically lower mortality during the great flu pandemic of 1917-18.

The benefits of these two herbs escalate in combination with the other herbs in this formula. Echinacea and holy basil are both anti-infective and have an impressively long history of use for colds, fever, and influenza. Wild indigo, while an infection fighter in its own right, also makes echinacea work better.

Medicinal Ingredients:
Andrographis (Andrographis paniculata, herb top), Wild Indigo (Baptisia tinctoria, root), Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea, herb top and root), Holy Basil (Ocimum sanctum, leaf), Lomatium (Lomatium dissectum, root), Thuja (Thuja occidentalis, herb top), Phytolacca (Phytolacca americana, root)

Non-Medicinal Ingredients:
Certified Organic Alcohol, Distilled water

Dosage:

  • Adults & adolescents (15 & over): 2 mL (60 drops);
  • Adolescents (10-14 years): 1 mL (30 drops);
  • Children (5-9 years): 0.5 mL (15 drops);
  • Children (2-4 years): 0.3 mL (10 drops).

All doses should be taken three times daily in a little water on an empty stomach. Take at the first sign of infection. For occasional, short term use only.

Cautions and Warnings:
Consult a health care practitioner before use: if you have an autoimmune disorder, diabetes or a progressive systemic disease such as AIDS and/or HIV infection, tuberculosis, leukosis, collagenosis or multiple sclerosis; if you are taking immunosuppressants, heart or blood pressure or blood-thinning medications; if you are taking other herbs containing thujone (e.g. wormwood, sage, tansy, and juniper). Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms worsen or persist.

Contraindications:
Do not use: if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or trying to conceive; if you are allergic to plants of the Asteraceae (daisy) or Acanthaceae family; if you have gastrointestinal irritation or infection.

Known Adverse Reactions:
Hypersensitivity (e.g. allergy) has been known to occur, in which case, discontinue use. Discontinue use if rash occurs. Discontinue use and consult a health care practitioner if you experience nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, or diarrhea.

Started w/ audiobook, now I'm ordering the print too
Format: Paperback
This book is GREAT!! The integration of theory she uses to support her claims is masterful. I began listening to the audiobook, because it was cheaper & I go through a ton of counseling & psych books. I am a grad student in social work, and I'm also a therapy client trying to heal myself. I appreciate that this book targets "chronic shame" which as a central experience to a bunch of issues. The hundreds of books and articles I've researched seem like they were mostly ALL working back to this issue. In a psychology culture that is big on cognitive and chemical solutions to mental health, the relational approach that she emphasizes is critical to the healing process. I appreciate the research she uses from object relations, affect regulation, interpersonal, etc. I purchased the hard copy because 1. I can't underline/highlight an audiobook and 2. I want a copy of the references of theorists and study's that she draws from, because they are pure gold. All therapists need to understand the contents of this book! Unless you are perfectly fine offering band aid solutions. Clients and self-helpers beware. It's not triggering in terms of content, it is activating in the sense that she describes the felt experience of shame SO WELL. I could locate my own felt sense of shame which is, by default, unpleasant. Some stabilization and a decent therapeutic connection is probably necessary before cracking this book open. But that's why I love it. I needed to go deeper and get the core issues. And this book is like a map that guides you right to it.

One of the best books on shame out there
Format: Paperback
As a shame researcher and educator, I often refer to DeYoung's book because it is so full of resources and relational tools for clinicians and individuals relating to the neurobiology of shame. It is a very small book with A LOT of information. Many references to the shame research and suggestions for treating shame in clinical practice from a perspective of right brain relationship dynamics. Thank you Patricia!

Highly recommend.
Format: Paperback
One of the most helpful, lucid, and comprehensive books on shame I've encountered. This was required reading for graduate school and is now one of my most returned to, dog-eared, and referenced books. Can't recommend enough.
