Garmin ECHOMAP UHD2 55cv 5" Ice Fishing Bundle

The Garmin ECHOMAP UHD2 55cv is one of the best compact 5-inch fish finders for anglers on small boats, kayaks, and tight consoles in Garmin's mainstream UHD2 lineup. It's a compact 5" touchscreen fishfinder and chartplotter delivering CHIRP traditional sonar and ClearVü down imaging, built-in GPS, and Garmin's mainstream feature set in a size that fits tight consoles, kayak mounts, jon boat dashes, and ice-fishing shelters. This is the Ice Fishing Bundle variant, it includes the Dual Beam-IF ice transducer rather than a transom-mount, making it ready for ice-hole fishing out of the box. Portable kit with foam-lined case and battery typically included in the bundle (check current packaging, Garmin has revised contents). The included Dual Beam-IF transducer is specifically configured for ice fishing, no separate purchase needed for hard-water use. This model ships with Navionics+ Canada maps pre-loaded, making it Canadian anglers fishing inland and coastal waters.

Important, this unit does NOT support LiveScope, LiveScope Plus, or LiveScope XR. Garmin reserves live sonar support for the 7" and larger UHD2 models, a hardware tier limitation, not something that can be added later with an accessory. Panoptix live sonar (PS22, PS31) is also not supported. If live sonar is on your short list now or in the next year or two, step up to the 77cv tier. If live sonar isn't a priority and you need a compact, capable CHIRP + ClearVü unit with GPS mapping, this is the right tier.

Key Features

  • 5" Touchscreen IPS Display, solar-readable, works in direct sunlight, compact for tight spaces
  • Dual Beam-IF Ice Transducer Included, ready for ice-hole fishing out of the box
  • CHIRP + ClearVü Sonar, Garmin's mainstream sonar suite in a compact format
  • Built-In GPS + Canada Maps, ready to navigate out of the box
  • Quickdraw Contours, create 1-foot contour maps of unmapped lakes as you fish
  • LiveScope NOT supported, display tier limitation (7"+ required for LiveScope)
  • Panoptix Live Sonar NOT supported, same hardware limitation
  • Wi-Fi + ActiveCaptain App, wireless software updates, waypoint sharing, smart notifications
  • NMEA 2000 Networking, connects to compatible sensors and trolling motors
  • microSD Card Slot, expand mapping with LakeMaster, CoastMaster, or C-MAP chips
  • Ice Fishing Bundle, includes Dual Beam-IF transducer, portable kit, and ice-ready mounting

Who This Fish Finder Is For

The ECHOMAP UHD2 55cv is best for kayak anglers, aluminum jon boat owners, small pontoon owners, and anglers adding a dedicated sonar to a compact console who need real Garmin mainstream sonar and GPS in a compact form factor and don't need LiveScope or live sonar upgrade path. The 5" touchscreen fits in places a 7"+ unit won't, kayak mounts, jon boat dashes, tight helm panels, ice fishing shelters. For most inland anglers on small boats, CHIRP + ClearVü shows you everything you need without the cost of SideVü.

Choose This If...

  • You have limited console space, kayak, jon boat, small pontoon, or cramped helm.
  • You don't need LiveScope or live forward-looking sonar, this tier does not support it. Step up to 7"+ UHD2 or Ultra 2 if live sonar matters.
  • You don't need SideVü, cv variants save vs sv and deliver CHIRP + ClearVü for inland/vertical fishing.
  • Canadian anglers fishing inland and coastal waters, this variant ships with Navionics+ Canada maps pre-loaded. U.S. Inland anglers should pick 53cv. U.S. Coastal anglers should pick 54cv.
  • Your budget is $400-$600, entry-to-mid mainstream tier with full GPS mapping.
  • You need a compact ice fishing setup, the Ice Fishing Bundle includes the Dual Beam-IF transducer ready for hard-water use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the ECHOMAP UHD2 55cv LiveScope compatible?

No. The 5" and 6" UHD2 models do not support LiveScope Plus, LiveScope XR, or LiveScope Original. This is a hardware tier limitation that cannot be bypassed with any accessory. If LiveScope matters to you, step up to the 7" or 9" UHD2 tier (73sv, 74sv, 75sv, 93sv, 94sv, 95sv) or the Ultra 2 tier.

Does it support Panoptix live sonar?

No. Panoptix PS22 and PS31 live sonar also require the 7"+ display tier. Same hardware limitation as LiveScope.

What's the difference between cv and sv?

"cv" means CHIRP + ClearVü (down imaging only). "sv" adds SideVü side imaging. This 55cv is a cv unit, no SideVü. The corresponding sv unit would give you side imaging but isn't available in the 5-inch tier.

Does the transducer come included?

Yes, includes the Dual Beam-IF ice transducer configured for hard-water fishing.

What maps are included?

This unit ships with Navionics+ Canada maps pre-loaded. Preloaded coverage spans Canadian waters including major walleye, pike, muskie, and salmon lakes. U.S. Inland anglers should pick 53cv. U.S. Coastal anglers should pick 54cv. All units accept LakeMaster, CoastMaster, and C-MAP cartography via microSD for expanded coverage.

Will this fit on my kayak?

The head unit is 6.4" W x 4" H x 2" D. It fits most 10-18 ft aluminum boats, jon boats, kayaks, small pontoons, and ice fishing shelters. It mounts with the included gimbal bracket or a RAM mount for kayaks. Requires 12V DC, a small 7Ah-12Ah battery is typical for kayak and jon boat installs. Most anglers install it themselves in 1-3 hours.

Is this good for ice fishing?

Yes. The Ice Fishing Bundle variant is purpose-built for ice fishing, includes the Dual Beam-IF transducer, compact form factor fits shanty setups, and the 5" display is easy to read sitting down on a bucket.

10/10 Great game changer for aggressive chewers
After a scary experience where our Doberman ingested part of a toy and needed emergency surgery, we had to get rid of all plush toys and small balls in our house. Replacing everything felt overwhelming. This ball has been fantastic. It’s truly built for aggressive chewers and holds up incredibly well. It’s perfect for fetch, strong enough for tug-of-war, and the bounce is excellent, which keeps our dog fully engaged during self-play when he’s entertaining himself. That unpredictable bounce makes it exciting without being unsafe. Most importantly, it gives us peace of mind. No shredding, no chunks coming off, no felt cover and constant worry about ingestion. Since having to replace all of his previous toys and balls, this one has stood out as the best by far. If you have a large, powerful dog—especially a Doberman—or a dog who destroys toys quickly, this is a must-have. Durable, safe, and genuinely fun. 10/10, highly recommend.

Finally, a sturdy oversized ball my boy can't destroy! And can pick up easily
This is just wonderful! My dog has destroyed all other balls! I think this is finally one he cannot destroy. And I love the holes so he can pick it up and throw it himself. LOL. And it BOUNCES, bringing him endless joy and skill in catching it. Cause you don't know which way it will bounce off the ground. Oversize was just right for him. Glad to have found this great sturdy ball.

Almost perfect...upraised logo should be left off
This toy is great for relentless chewers with strong jaws! It would be almost perfect if it didn't have a "K9" logo in raised rubber on it. That is the place that my aggressive chewer shepherd/bulldog mix focuses on and is able to get small chunks off. Without that logo, he would chew the ball more evenly, instead of fixating on that one spot. He loves this ball and has chewed on it for about an hour off & on each of the 11 days he has had it. Although it is very durable so far, the flaw is the upraised logo.

Perfect for High-Drive Dogs & Surprisingly Durable (six month review)
I use this ring ball for structured fetch and tug sessions with my high-drive German Shepherd mix (91 lbs. at 10 mon.), and it’s easily the best toy we’ve added to our routine. What makes it truly exceptional is how it allows my dog to engage in the full canine predatory sequence: • Chase: He locks in visually and bolts after the ring when I throw it. • Grab & Hold: He brings it back, pins it against my leg, and bites down firmly (the toy—not the leg!)—his way of acting out the natural catch-and-control behavior. • Unalive & Tug: We finish with a strong tug session, which satisfies his instinct to grip and shake—basically his version of “making the toy unalive.” • Settle & Chew: Afterward, he relaxes with a chew toy or eats—completing the full physical and mental cycle in a healthy, balanced way. Durability is outstanding—this toy stands up to intense tug sessions with no tearing or damage, even with a 91 lb powerhouse. My senior dog also joins in for double tug play, and it holds up beautifully to that too. I don’t leave this toy down for chewing—it’s not a chew toy. I use it specifically for fetch and tug, then put it away when we’re done. This keeps it exciting and extends its lifespan. My dog has other chew toys he can use freely throughout the day. This isn’t just another fetch toy—when thoughtful it provides a structured, instinct-satisfying experience that’s mentally enriching and physically engaging. If you have a high-drive or working breed, or a dog who thrives on interactive play, this ring ball is 100% worth it.

Perfect for "Heavy Chewers," lasts long, and has yet to come apart or tear up
Size: Large, Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I have several dogs, and they are what would be considered as "Heavy Chewers." They are truly awesome pets, and I consider them like my children. I started looking for toys that I wouldn't worry about if I didn't have line of sight for every minute. All dog toys, regardless of their size, type, weight, or if they're steel versus plastic material have a warning on the bottom of very label/package that states that the animal should never be left alone with the toy. With that said, I do not leave the toys unattended, even though this toy has paid it's weight in how well it has stood up to the constant chewing my dogs give it everytime I place it in their crates to prevent fights, or issues on the pack order. As far as the actual toy, it looks, feels, and even smells like a tire, but without any problems with the dogs accepting it to play with. The toy bounces like a ball, and the overall weight is heavy enough to ensure durability. Just like a tire, the toy is made of rubber, not plastic material. I have found that smearing small amounts of peanut butter in to the crevices of the tire rather than brand specific treats is just as effective, I will also freeze the peanut butter into the tire, and this also increases the length of time it takes for the dogs to consume. I ended up buying three more toys, mostly so all my dogs have one, and that I also have one as a spare. I would recommend this to any owner of a "Heavy Chewer" as the product is well made, and yet to have any defect or piece removed by any of my dogs, and they do chew on these toys extensively.
