Sugimoto Mirror-Finish Deba Knife

This is a Deba knife from Sugimoto. Deba knives are used for processing fish, suitable for removing heads and making fillets. This piece is in very clean condition and appears to have seen little use. The water buffalo handle is beautiful, and the flat of the blade has been polished to a mirror finish. A protective blade oil has been applied for storage, so the mirror surface may appear cloudy; a light wash with dish soap will reveal the true shine.

Mirror and semi-mirror finishes are often applied only to part of the blade rather than the entire surface.
