Made to create an omnidirectional spread of soft, diffused light, the 18" China Ball with E27 Socket from Kupo is a great, inexpensive way to fill in shadows, increase the ambient light level, or create overhead lighting such as you'd see at a restaurant. The ball itself is paper and is supported by a 3/16" metal frame that's attached to the socket. Optional bulbs are separately purchased by the user. The underside of the socket is tapped with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 female threads for ease of mounting, and the light comes with a threaded 5/8" pin for attachment to standard grip gear such as a boom.
