OLAS Exposure Series Guardian

The EXPOSURE OLAS Guardian is a small wireless engine kill switch that acts within two seconds of a person going overboard. It has the dual function of also acting as an instant Man Overboard (MOB) alarm system. The Guardian simply connects with up to 25 OLAS transmitters and can cover a vessel up to 50 feet.

In the Box

Guardian, OLAS Tag + Battery, Power Connection wires, Kill Cord connection wires, Stainless steel switch, User Guide, 5 x marine connectors.

The OLAS Guardian ensures that powerboat and RIB drivers can stop their boats instantly if the skipper or crew gets separated, preventing accidents from unmanned, uncontrolled vessels. They are free to move around their boat without constantly having to remember to attach, detach, and re-attach a physically wired kill cord.

Customizable Tag Modes

  • Engine stop - it acts as a kill cord, stopping the vessel when the tag is out of range, without triggering MOB alerts

  • MOB alert - it alerts the vessel without cutting the engine

  • Engine stop + MOB alert - this mode triggers crew alerts and cuts off the engine

How it works

  • Up to 25 OLAS transmitting devices (OLAS T2/ OLAS Tag/ OLAS Float-On) within range can be tracked around the vessel by the Guardian. This allows freedom for the crew and skipper to move around the vessel with confidence that if anyone falls overboard, either the engine will be cut off and/or an alarm will occur, and a swift recovery can be actioned.

  • The Guardian connects to a vessels 12/24v power supply and existing kill switch using the supplied connectors, making it quick and easy to install with immediate usability.

  • A 21mm hole is required near the existing kill switch for the 20mm stainless steel, LED control switch to be installed.

(Professional installation is not required but is advised, as ACR Electronics does not accept any liability for incorrect installation.)

Who is it for

OLAS Guardian is for drivers of power and motor boats, and all skippers and boat owners concerned about onboard safety. It wirelessly connects up to 25 crew members via wearable OLAS transmitters (T2, Tag, or OLAS Float On Light), creating a virtual kill cord.

Core Advantages

  • Run alongside existing Kill switch - The Guardian can be used in place of or alongside an existing kill cord switch and will operate if the physical kill cord has not been attached to the driver. - On most engines, a simple parallel connection to the existing kill switch will enable full wireless cut-off capability.

  • Automatic restart - After 5 seconds, the kill switch is deactivated, enabling the engine to be restarted

  • Inbuilt Alarm - An 85db alarm will sound to indicate an OLAS transmitter has gone out of range.

  • Inbuilt Emergency Light (if externally mounted) - A high-power emergency Red light will illuminate, offering a clear visual indication of an alert whilst also acting as a light to illuminate the surrounding area.

  • Relay selection - The OLAS App allows individual relay selection for easily adjusting if the OLAS transmitter triggers the engine cut-off/relay, or only triggers the Guardians inbuilt MOB alarm.

  • Automatic connection - When users board their vessel and switch on the power, The Guardian will automatically connect to any switched-on OLAS transmitting devices within 2 2-meter range.

  • No connection alert and override - If users board the vessel and no transmitters are switched on, the Guardian will sound an alert. This alert can be stopped either by connecting the OLAS transmitter to the Guardian or the Guardian can be manually switched off. After which the vessel can be driven as usual using the existing physical, safety kill cord.

  • Pause mode - The system can be placed into pause mode. This is used when users need to leave the boat with the engine idling, such as walking down a pontoon, knowing the OLAS transmitter will go out of range.

  • Connects up to 25 OLAS Transmitters (OLAS T2, OLAS Tag, or OLAS Float-On) - Up to 25 transmitters allow larger vessels to connect crew and objects to the Guardian. Simply by attaching a transmitter to an object such as a MOB flotation device or yacht tender, users can always be aware if something has gone missing.

  • Extender compatible One or two OLAS extenders can be used to cover areas where transmitter signals may be blocked. This allows use on larger vessels up to 100ft.

Mobile App Features

  • The Guardian is easily operated via the OLAS App, free to download from the App Store for iOS and the Google Play Store for Android. The OLAS app requires a device running a minimum of IOS11 or Android 5.1 to work. The OLAS App is a powerful tool for controlling the Guardians functions and for aiding in fast rescue. The app offers the following functionality:

  • Monitor all OLAS transmitters that are being tracked

  • Customize OLAS transmitter Names making them easy to allocate

  • Check battery status for OLAS transmitters

  • Add OLAS transmitters to the Guardian system.

  • Pause the Guardian system if transmitters are leaving the area for a short period.

  • Adjust the time before the Guardian reacts to an overboard transmitter between 2 seconds to 15 seconds, allowing more freedom around larger vessels.

  • Adjust between the cut-off switch and external alarm mode.

  • Kill switch mode activates the inbuilt switch for 5 seconds, cutting off the engine, but allowing users to restart the engine after 5 seconds.

  • External alarm mode activates the inbuilt switch until it is manually canceled. This allows external, high power, alarms to be connected in series.

  • Pause the alarm state.

  • Easily adjust individual transmitters between Engine cut-off (for the skipper), Alarm only (for passengers), and Pause (for passengers leaving the vessel temporarily).

  • sounding the external alarm if a Tag wearer is out of range on both the Guardian and a mobile device.

  • Maximum volume alarm and vibration on a mobile phone, synchronized with the Guardian.

  • Indication of which transmitter has triggered the alarm.

  • Record the GPS location of where the alarm was triggered

  • Clear guidance back to the GPS location where the alarm was triggered.

  • Clear display of the time and GPS location of where the alarm was triggered and the users current location.

  • VHF emergency script with automatically input GPS coordinates and custom vessel information Solo Mode.

  • Designed for when users are boating on their own within 2G cellular range or offshore Wifi. Solo mode will send an automatic text message to a custom number with the users location and time of the incident. If a self-rescue is managed an automatic text is sent canceling the alert.

  • Adjust the time before the cut-off switch or alarm is triggered offering greater freedom.

Setup Mounting

12/24V wired

The Guardian module can be connected to a vessels power supply to ensure it is always connected when users have the power running. The power wires can simply be spliced into an existing power supply from the boats battery.

Through panel mounting

The compact, stainless steel switch requires minimum adjustment to an existing center console, allowing it to be fitted through a 21mm hole.

Color-coded control switch

The color-coded control switch makes the system easy to control and set, without the need for the OLAS App. During the setup process, it will indicate the automatic setup stages with a red indicator light. When the system is running it shows a green light, switching back to red in an alarm situation.

System Feedback

The GUARDIAN indicates how many OLAS transmitters are connected during the setup process. Transmitters can be added to the system either using the mobile application or through a simple inbuilt switching process.

The series as a whole so far 5/25
Format: Kindle
I read reviews before going into this book and I don't agree with one of the more harsh ones on the main trigger she had. It is stated clearly in the forward and it wasn't as blase as it was made out to be. It definitely is touched on more and hasn't just been brushed off as the series goes I definitely would recommend reading it. It's a good series just be for-warned I like the series as a whole. The characters are awesome I adore the fmc shes cute and adorable but also a badass. Though there are a bunch of holes for her that I feel like just got left out. The guys are interesting and shout out to yall for not making Gage a dragon. I'm tired of the broody ones who don't wanna talk aboit what they are being Dragons. Ki is my favorite You can definitely tell if is written by 2 different people though because the phrasing just doesn't match up and wouldn't be something people that age says. And it flip flops between them. I feel like there's substance without substance. We are 4 books in and we don't really know much back story on literally anyone more than right under surface deep. There are definitely favorite MMCs which is kind of disappointing since some get shoved to the wayside. Specifically both of the best friends. They're basically useless and it's made obvious as the books go on. As well as all the men are ungodly self deprecating. I enjoy the plot line for the most part like I said I enjoy the series its different and refreshing. I do feel like the series is being dragged out though unfortunately. And the latest cliff hanger was just meh. So hopefully the next book is the last one.

Wow!
Format: Kindle
This book was awesome! Seraphina and her family have moved to a new town. Her family is a bit... odd. She grew up learning how to protect herself from people who might hurt her. Bloodshed is a daily occurrence with her brothers and parents during their practice sessions, and it’s all fun and games unless you need to hide a body. Sera’s family is very close, and she’s been homeschooled most of her life. But in this new town she is going to start regular school as a senior at the local high school. Unfortunately, things at her school aren’t all they seem to be. Or perhaps more than they seem to be. Sera has her own demons to deal with, and she’s terrified her new friends will learn about her weird family and other issues and drop her like a rock. It turns out they have their own secrets as well. This story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next one! This book is well written and well edited. The heroine is spunky and has a great heart and wicked sense of humor.

Great start
Format: Kindle
I loved this book! It's funny but still deals with tough themes, like chronic illness, a serial killer on the loose, and a dash of self-harm. The guys are interesting and distinct, we don't know too much about them yet. It does end on a really terrible cliffhanger but on the bright side the next book is out and I believe the series is complete. I have enjoyed both of these authors separately and this is a great team up!

Fudge!
Format: Kindle
Titles aren’t my strong suit. Sorry not sorry. That ending has me completely frustrated book two isn’t out yet. Just throwing that out there. First thing first, this is a high school book where the lead is under 18. Yea yea she’s about month from being an adult, but I can’t say I would’ve even opened the file if I’d realized. It’s not a smut fest or anything, but there is sexual tension as each party figures out their emotions. That being said, it’s a good book. There are some troubling parts, like how the supes come into their powers at 13, but most of those are dealt with in a way that makes sense. Kian is the exception. His whole arc pisses me off, especially since no one stepped in. Reflecting back on real world situations, ten or so years ago, I can see it happening, but it still makes me sick. Which, I’m sure was the whole damn point. For the most part, Courting Darkness is a fun read. I found myself laughing along with most of the set up. By the time it started getting serious, I’d grown to like the characters enough it held an impact. I’ll be adding book two to my list for when it comes out.

Intriguing
Format: Kindle
An intriguing story that played out slowly while introducing some unique characters. The story became quite fascinating to read as these same characters provided startling revelations to their lives. As their relationships evolve, more drama and mystery is revealed adding to my fascination. I can’t wait to read more.
