Description

Poor Economics: A Radical Rethinking of the Way to Fight Global Poverty is a book by Abhijit V. Banerjee and Esther Duflo, both Nobel Prize-winning economists. Published in 2011, the book challenges traditional approaches to combating poverty and offers new insights based on rigorous field research and experiments conducted in developing countries.
Banerjee and Duflo examine the everyday decisions of poor people and the systemic factors that perpetuate poverty. They argue that many of the solutions proposed by policymakers and aid organizations are based on oversimplified assumptions. Through detailed case studies, they emphasize the importance of understanding the complexities of poverty and advocate for small, context-specific interventions rather than one-size-fits-all solutions.
The book combines economics with human stories, offering a nuanced view of the challenges faced by the poor and suggesting practical ways to improve their lives through evidence-based policies.

About the Authors

Abhijit V. Banerjee and Esther Duflo are renowned economists and co-authors of the influential book Poor Economics. In 2019, they were jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, alongside Michael Kremer, for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty.
Abhijit V. Banerjee is an Indian-American economist and a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His research focuses on development economics, and he is known for his work on poverty, inequality, and the effectiveness of interventions aimed at improving living standards in the developing world.
Esther Duflo, a French-American economist, is also a professor at MIT. She is recognized for her pioneering work in development economics, especially for using randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to evaluate poverty alleviation strategies. Duflo has contributed to the understanding of how specific policies can improve health, education, and economic outcomes in impoverished communities.
Together, Banerjee and Duflo are leaders in the field of development economics, advocating for evidence-based, context-driven solutions to global poverty.

Still Usefil for a Samsung S24 Ultra User
Color: Black
The Charging Pad: The pad is super flat (nearly the same thickness as the pad) and looks nice next to it or a similar mouse and keyboard pad. It works perfectly for my Samsung S24 Ultra without a case on it, but having a 'magsafe' style case would improve the experience. You do have to take a second to get the alignment right. It uses USB-C instead of cheaping out with a micro, and the status light is helpful. I don't think I own anything that can charge in the headphone area, and in case you're wondering, neither spot will charge a Samsung smartwatch (as expected). I'd nearly recommend this just for the charging pad since it's so unobtrusive on the desk. Just remember you'll need to route that wire out of the top of it somewhere. The mouse pad: The size is probably perfect for a typical keyboard and mouse user. I always have a 3D mouse on the left, and an extra long Coursair keyboard, so I prefer having a gigantic mat for all of that. But there is one feature of this mouse pad that I like more than most. The material doesn't attract every spec of dirt and hair in the universe, and it's easy to wipe off. Because of this, I use the pad under my 3D mouse and keyboard, with a larger full-desk pad underneath (including the mouse area). The felt material on the back keeps this locked to my desk, and unlike a rubberized pad, isn't going to turn into glue after a few years. I did test my mouse on the pad, and it feels fairly good. It's not too smooth, and is a bit easier on your hand, but very serious gamers may take some time to adjust.

Smaller and more expensive than artisian deskmats
Color: Black
These are slightly smaller than the standard artisan deskmats and double the price.. It's also about half the thickness, so there's not as much padding. This isn't a huge deal. if the felt is on the bottom, it doesn't grip to the desk very well. The wireless charger is okay, but I found it bulky. Having a small dedicated 3 in 1 charging stand was more convenient for me. If you have a heaver mechanical keyboard, you won't be able to lift this thing to see underneath it. Overall, this is an okay deskmat and it'll serve it's purpose when I'm washing my regular deskmat, but not my favorite.

Well crafted and easy to assemble, decorative and useful piece.
Color: Bronze
This ring/jewelry holder is a little bigger than I expected it to be, and definitely is more suitable to a nightstand or dresser than on a bathroom vanity. That being said, the construction is very sturdy and it can easily hold a lot of jewelry. This is a great gift for a jewelry collector who already has a ton of jewelry and needs an innovative way to store and display it. There are a ton of branches on the tree, and each can easily fit 4-7 rings or necklaces.
