Kanto S2 Desktop Speaker Stands at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The S2 is a pair of angled desktop speaker stands from Kanto (Vancouver, Canada), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Machined from solid aluminum, the S2 stands deliver a 16-degree upward tilt that redirects compact desktop speakers toward seated ear level, ensuring the full frequency range reaches the listener rather than dispersing across the desk surface. Multiple foam padding zones on the contact surfaces provide grip, protect speaker cabinet finishes, and reduce mechanical vibration transfer to the desk below. The S2 is designed for small to mid-sized desktop speakers used in nearfield listening, home office audio, and compact streaming setups.

16-Degree Tilt for Accurate Nearfield Listening

Desktop speakers positioned flat on a work surface almost always place the tweeter below the listener's ear height, causing measurable high-frequency rolloff at the listening position and degrading stereo imaging accuracy. The Kanto S2 corrects this with a fixed 16-degree upward tilt that realigns the speaker's tweeter axis toward the listener at typical desktop distances of 50 to 80 cm. This on-axis alignment restores the frequency response that the speaker's designer intended, bringing out detail in the upper midrange and treble that would otherwise be lost to off-axis dispersion across the desk surface. The improvement is immediately audible as greater clarity, sharper stereo imaging, and a more natural tonal balance across all listening material.

Aluminum Construction with Multi-Zone Foam Padding

The S2 stands are constructed from solid aluminum, a material chosen for its combination of rigidity, low mass, and natural acoustic neutrality. Unlike plastic risers that can flex under load or exhibit their own resonant frequencies, aluminum provides a stable and inert platform that does not contribute coloration to the speaker's output. Multiple zones of foam padding are distributed across the stand's contact surfaces, serving three simultaneous functions: gripping the speaker cabinet base to prevent lateral movement during transient bass peaks, cushioning the speaker finish against hard contact with the metal frame, and decoupling the stand from the desk surface to reduce the mechanical vibration path that causes furniture to resonate sympathetically with low-frequency energy. The result is a cleaner, more controlled bass presentation and a quieter overall listening environment at any playback level.

Key Features

  • 16-Degree Upward Tilt: Angles compact desktop speakers toward ear level for on-axis frequency response, improved treble clarity, and more accurate stereo imaging in nearfield listening positions.
  • Solid Aluminum Construction: Machined from aluminum for a rigid, acoustically neutral platform that resists flex, resonance, and vibration without adding unnecessary mass to the desktop.
  • Multi-Zone Foam Padding: Foam pads at multiple contact points grip the speaker base, protect cabinet finishes, and decouple the stand from the desk surface to reduce vibration transfer and sympathetic resonance.
  • Compact Desktop Footprint: Low-profile form factor keeps the desk surface tidy and uncluttered while delivering meaningful acoustic and ergonomic improvements over flat placement.
  • Sold as a Pair: Two stands are included per box, providing matched tilt and isolation for both left and right speakers in a stereo desktop configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Kanto S2?

The Kanto S2 is a pair of angled desktop speaker stands from Kanto (Vancouver, Canada), constructed from solid aluminum with a 16-degree upward tilt and multi-zone foam padding on all contact surfaces. They are designed for compact to mid-sized desktop speakers used in nearfield listening environments such as home offices, music production desks, and streaming setups.

How does the Kanto S2 compare to the Kanto S4 or Audioengine DS1 desktop stands?

The Kanto S2 is constructed from solid aluminum, giving it a more premium material profile than the steel-bodied Kanto S4, which is aimed at slightly larger and heavier mid-sized speakers with an 8 lb per-stand weight capacity. The S4 also adds a dual-orientation flip design for two height options, a feature not present on the S2. Compared to the Audioengine DS1, which is designed specifically around Audioengine speaker dimensions, the Kanto S2 is a more universal option suited to a wider range of compact desktop speaker brands and models. For listeners prioritizing material quality and a minimal aluminum aesthetic on a compact desktop setup, the S2 is the stronger choice.

Can the Kanto S2 be used with any desktop speaker brand?

Yes, the Kanto S2 works with any compact desktop speaker that sits stably on the stand's padded top surface. The multi-zone foam padding grips a range of cabinet base dimensions without requiring mounting hardware, making the S2 compatible with powered speakers from Audioengine, Yamaha, Edifier, KEF, and other brands alongside Kanto's own lineup. Users should verify that their speaker's base dimensions are supported by the stand's top contact area before purchasing.

What is the benefit of aluminum construction over steel or plastic for speaker stands?

Aluminum combines high structural rigidity with relatively low mass and excellent acoustic neutrality, meaning it holds the speaker firmly without flexing under load and does not exhibit the sympathetic resonances that plastic risers can introduce. Compared to steel, aluminum is lighter for an equivalent stiffness level and offers a premium aesthetic finish that complements brushed or anodized speaker designs. For a desktop stand where mass is less critical than it would be for a floor stand, aluminum is an ideal material choice that keeps the overall footprint light without sacrificing stability.

Do the Kanto S2 stands reduce vibration on the desk surface?

Yes, the multi-zone foam padding on the S2 decouples the speaker cabinet from the stand and the stand from the desk at multiple contact points simultaneously. This interrupts the mechanical path through which low-frequency energy travels from the speaker cabinet into the desk surface, reducing the sympathetic vibration that causes furniture to resonate and color the listening environment. The effect is most noticeable at higher playback volumes where bass energy is sufficient to excite flat, hard surfaces.

Where can I buy the Kanto S2 in Toronto or Canada?

The Kanto S2 desktop speaker stands are available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound is an authorized Kanto dealer carrying the full Kanto stand range including the S2, S4, S6, and S10 models alongside powered speakers, turntables, and audio accessories. The S2 can be ordered online through the Vinyl Sound Canada website with shipping available across Canada.

Are the Kanto S2 stands suitable for a home office audio setup?

Yes, the Kanto S2 stands are an excellent fit for home office audio setups where desk space is limited and accurate sound at a seated position matters. The 16-degree tilt corrects the off-axis listening angle that flat desk placement creates, restoring clarity and reducing listening fatigue during long work sessions. The aluminum construction and minimal footprint also maintain a professional, uncluttered desk aesthetic that suits home office and hybrid workspace environments.

A bewitching retelling of Arthurian legend!
Format: Kindle
In a land where the Fae have nearly become only a legend and those who still posses even a morsel of the blood are few and far between, Morgan finds herself cast aside by most of society due to her rumored half-Fae lineage, including her brother, King Arthur. With the kingdom at the brink of war, Arthur entrusts her with a quest to retrieve a Fae weapon of legendary power: the sword of Perun, Excalibur. Accompanied by men she loathes, Captain Kairos Draven and Ragnar Whitehorn, she embarks on her long and unbeknownst perilous journey, only to find that things she once believed to be myth are in fact very real. With devastating twists, omitted truths, witty banter and fierce action, Queen of Roses leaves you begging to know more about the secrets of Aercanum! Wow, wow, wow! Going into this story, I did not realize that it was going to be a retelling of Arthurian legend, especially not one with a fantastical twist! The unique spin almost gave me The Witcher vibes and I think adding Fae into the mix was quite interesting. I knew the basics of the legend but after reading this book, it has piqued my interest and makes me want to learn more about it. My attention was snatched as soon as I finished the prologue and I knew that I was going to devour this story. I truly enjoyed the gender swaps and even how Arthur was portrayed as villainous. Morgan’s past and even her parts of her present is absolutely heartbreaking, and I felt for her at times. I can only recall one other book that made me hate characters the way I despised Florian and Arthur, leaving me with my blood boiling and feeling disgusted. Even after finishing the book, Draven is still a mystery to me and I cannot figure out how to feel about him. I guess they just means that the author did an excellent job at conveying each character’s persona! The rich world building and imagery made it easy for me to visualize the places that the group visited along their journey. I am truly engulfed in this story and I cannot wait to see wait fate awaits Morgan and how the Fae will be even more incorporated in the next book!. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Enchanting
Format: Kindle
"Queen of Roses" by Briar Boleyn is a delightful and refreshing reimagining of the classic tale of King Arthur, with a captivating twist that places the spotlight on Morgan, a character who has often been overshadowed in traditional retellings. Boleyn's creative decision to shift the narrative perspective to Morgan breathes new life into the story, offering readers an intriguing and compelling look at the Arthurian world from an entirely different angle. One of the most commendable aspects of this book is its incorporation of Fae elements, which adds an enchanting layer of magic and mystery to the already familiar Arthurian setting. Boleyn skillfully weaves the world of the Fae into the narrative, creating a captivating backdrop against which the events of the story unfold. This addition not only adds depth to the world-building but also provides ample opportunities for twists and turns that keep readers thoroughly engrossed. However, while the book boasts numerous strengths, it does have one noticeable flaw: the characterization of Morgan. While it is reasonable to create a flawed and complex protagonist, it appears that at times, Morgan's character becomes overly difficult and hard to relate to. Her persistently negative perception of one of the main male characters, who is a potential love interest, despite his efforts to support and assist her, may come across as somewhat irrational and could test the patience of some readers. Striking a balance between a strong, independent character and one who can recognize genuine support and affection could have enhanced the overall reader experience. Nonetheless, the allure of "Queen of Roses" lies in its innovative approach to the Arthurian legend and its skillful blending of fantasy elements into a familiar narrative. Boleyn's evocative prose draws readers into a world where magic, destiny, and fate entwine, leaving us eager to uncover the mysteries that unfold within the pages. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

An action-packed dark romantasy
Format: Kindle
I loved this book! Queen of Roses is an Arthurian-inspired dark romantasy that is the first book in the Blood of Fae series. The story follows Morgan, the princess of Camelot who is rumored to be part fae. Fueled by prejudiced hatred and a mistrust of fae blood, Morgan’s abusive father strips her of her birthright and hands it to her half-brother, Arthur. Instead of becoming queen, Morgan is commanded to join the temple of the goddesses when she comes of age. However, Arthur turns into a psychopathic, power-hungry, fae-hating king as he ages. He develops malevolent plans and commands Morgan to find an ancient weapon with legendary power. Although Morgan is wary of Arthur’s intentions, she embraces the opportunity to go on a journey and potentially change her fate. The story picks up from there and we follow Morgan on her quest to find the ancient relic. It’s full of high stakes adventure, mystery, tension, banter, forced proximity, hidden magic, self discovery, and betrayal. This first installment of the series intricately develops the world building and character development. There’s little romance in this book, but it is evident that it is a slow burn that will continue to develop throughout the remainder of the series. Overall, I loved the world building, the epic fantasy, Morgan’s journey of self discovery, and all of the twists and turns that set the stage for the future installments. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Arthurian Fae Quest…say less.
Format: Kindle
A fae centered Arthurian tale unlike any I’ve read so far. The author did a great job at descriptive world building, with scenes easily playing out in my minds eye. There was plenty of action, suspense, and even a touch of horror. An enemies to lovers, slow burn romance, a quest, with plot twist and turns aplenty. There was a love triangle, which I’m not usually a fan of but, it played out well in this story line. The FMC, Morgan Pendragon, was so blatantly naïve, yet I typically expect as much in a ‘book one’ of a series, especially one that features a fairly sheltered princess. I was happy to read that in spite of this, she still showed a strong sense of morals, fire, and spine. Now our MMC? Kairos Draven, aka Void’s Edge. Oh, how I’m a sucker for a smoking’ hot grumpy warrior alpha with a witty mouth, and a strong sense of “touch her and die” attitude, so you know who held all my cards. That ending? Just made me swoon all the harder. Now add a battlecat that rivals the size of a horse…and well Ms. Briar Boleyn you have well and truly stolen my heart. I’m excited to see where the story goes from here, and follow along to see more of the characters growth. I went into this story fairly blind, and I think I enjoyed it all the more because of it. Once the story got going, it had me in an absolute chokehold and it was difficult to put down.

Not a bad start
Format: Kindle
3 stars Thank you Netgalley and Briar Boleyn for the ARC! A camelot/king Arthur retelling with fae. I was hooked by the idea of this book immediately and was eager to jump into this world. • slow burn • enemies to lovers • who did this to you Morgan Pendragon watched her mother die by her father's hand when she was just eight years old, hiding under the bed. Morgan is believed to have the tainted blood of the fae in her veins and is cast aside so that her fathers illegitimate son, Arthur, can become the king. She's seen his cruel treatment of the fae firsthand, so when he sends her on a journey to find a fae weapon she seizes the opportunity to do more with her life. Along the way, she finds more than she could have imagined. I don't know a whole lot about King Arthur and Camelot but I had a lot of fun with this story! The plot has some similar tropes to popular romantasy books (From blood and ash) but there's enough originality here that it doesn't feel like I'm reading a copy. I liked how the fae were different in appearance than what is typical in most fantasy books I've read. In this book they have blue hair, violet skin and a wide range of other characteristics. I thought that the world building was easy to follow and I could easily immerse myself into this world. After reading the blurb I kept wondering when she was going to go on the journey to find Excalibur and it doesn't happen until around the 45% mark. The story is a bit slow at times but starts to pick up once they begin their journey to find Excalibur. The John Wick style Inn was a fun concept that I enjoyed reading about. There are a lot of similarities to this and FBAA and I would have liked to have it be a little more different, but I'm hoping book two will have the story turn into something of its own. Overall I enjoyed reading this story and I'm looking forward to reading book two especially after that ending.
