This Etna Rosso from Monteleone has a brilliant ruby hue and a complex nose of ripe red fruit, subtle smokiness, and spice. The palate offers juicy fruit and smooth tannins, finishing fresh with a hint of saltiness.
From the northern slopes of Mount Etna, this is a single vineyard wine from Contrada Cuba. Meticulously handpicked Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes in the cool morning hours to capture their freshest essence. These grapes ferment in small conical steel tanks at 23°C, a process that takes 10-12 days with daily gentle punch downs to extract the best flavors. Following it goes through malolactic fermentation, partly in oak tonneaux and partly in steel tanks. The wine matures for 18 months in a combination of 10% new and 90% used French oak tonneau, followed by 6 months of bottle refinement.
