INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to the Recognise & Respond to Oral Health Issues in Care Settings course. This course only includes a challenge assessment designed to assess your knowledge and skills required to demonstrate competence in recognising possible oral health issues, conducting basic oral checks within role boundaries, and responding appropriately through reporting, documentation and referral pathways in care settings.

Recognising and responding to oral health issues in care settings involves noticing changes early and understanding how oral health affects comfort, nutrition, communication and overall wellbeing. It requires the ability to observe patient behaviour, habits and functional changes that may indicate oral health issues, listen to self-reports, and question the patient, family or carer about oral pain, discomfort or changes from normal. The assessment will explore how you identify contributing factors that may explain variation from normal behaviour, and how you apply safe manual handling techniques for patients with special care needs so that support is delivered safely, respectfully and without causing distress or harm.

The course assessment focuses on your ability to prepare for and conduct a basic oral check in a person-centred and legally compliant way. You will be required to demonstrate how you obtain consent for a basic visual oral check and related questioning, build trust and rapport, and adapt the environment to support patient comfort and cooperation. The assessment will also examine your ability to support head or chin positioning to improve visual access without discomfort, encourage the patient to open their own mouth to limit hand contact inside the mouth, and perform a basic visual oral check within role boundaries using standard precautions. You will need to show how you recognise signs and symptoms of oral health issues and identify variation from normal based on what you observe, hear and see.

By successfully completing this course assessment, you will have demonstrated that you can interpret and apply the core requirements of recognising and responding to oral health issues in care settings, including observing changes, gaining consent, conducting basic visual checks safely, recognising signs and symptoms, documenting and reporting accurately, supporting referrals, and promoting self-care strategies—confirming your readiness to contribute to safer, more responsive oral health support in care environments.

Great Product, 2 years and running!
Color: Onyx Black - Most Durable
It’s been almost 2 years and my dogs haven’t destroyed them yet. I have a Pitbull and a Pit/Cosro mix. They destroy every toy we’ve given them, except these toys. Great product 100% worth the money

Perfect for HEAVY chewers
Color: Onyx Black - Most Durable
My dog is a heavy chewer. Destroys everything that’s not very hard rubber, hard plastic, or hard material. He LOVES this ball. I think it’s his favorite. Plus, it bounces great so you can play with your dog. Very well constructed- probably indestructible or will at least last a very long time. Easily worth the money.

The only toy my dogs can’t destroy and love
Color: Onyx Black - Most Durable
I am thrilled to have found one toy my dogs don’t destroy immediately. They have torn up Fenrir hammers, the black kongs of all sizes, the monster k9 stick, nylabones, and they don’t like the goughnut at all (it stinks like a bad tire). This is the first one they both love and haven’t been able to destroy immediately. It does allow little tooth marks, but that’s what makes it fun for them. They are very happy playing with it and I’d say this one was worth every dollar. Update Months Later: We’ve gone through 2/3 now. I got two initially, and one has lasted long term. They still haven’t completely destroyed it. They did destroy a second one quickly so I suspect a flaw in it. They sent me a new one and they took a while, but they did destroy the third to the point we had to throw it away. Despite that, one still remains and our dogs still love it. It’s still the best for the money compared to others. We have two Bully XL’s that are each close to 100 pounds.

Indestructible
Color: Onyx Black - Most Durable
This is actually indestrutible! Be careful though, it's wicked hard/heavy. It isn't a ball you want banging into things. Use outside!!

Not indestructible, but the best I’ve found
Color: Onyx Black - Most Durable, Color: Onyx Black - Most Durable
This thing is unexpectedly heavy for its size. My 18 month old Giant Schnauzer is obsessed with fetch but destroys every ball she gets. The other brands marketed for extreme chewers tend to last about a day or two before they’re totally shredded. She’s had this one for about 2 weeks and it’s looking rough, but still holding together for the most part. I appreciate that as it comes apart it does so in little pieces rather than large chunks. While it’s far from indestructible, it’s the strongest I’ve found so far.
