Kai is a very versatile genderfree sewing pattern. It is wearable in all seasons because you can easily wear it over a T-shirt or sweater. The frivolous jumpsuit with ruffle looks super cute. Leave out the ruffle, and you will have playful dungarees. For the shoulder straps, you can choose between stretchy straps or straps with buttons and buttonholes. With both options, dressing and undressing is very easy. The pattern gives you the option to make just the trouser part. And by adjusting the length, you get a nice pair of shorts! 

If your little child likes flowy dresses, just make the bodice with a skirt part,, and you will have a wonderfully loose pinafore. Because the pinafore is a derivative of the dungarees, the armholes are the same depth. It is meant to be worn over a T-shirt or sweater, but it is also a great high-summer dress without anything underneath! It is nice to wear in all seasons.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS:
For the variants with ruffle, all kinds of fabrics can be used, as long as they are not too stiff and thick. Think linen, gabardine, cotton twill, poplin, thin velvet, double gauze, french terry … 

For the dungarees, slightly stiffer fabrics such as denim-like qualities and corduroy can also be used.
