Bridestones and the Hole of HorcumThis is an 8 mile (13 km) circular walk which normally takes about 4 5 hours of gentle walking to complete. We meet and start the walk from the Hole of Horcum carpark situated on the A169. The walk starts at 10. 00am. This is a pleasant walk that takes in two of the National Parks most popular landmarks, the Bridestones and the Hole of Horcum. This is a pleasant walk that takes in two of the National Park’s most popular landmarks, the Bridestones and the Hole of Horcum. We leave the carpark and head off towards the Old Wife’s Way, this is a single road leading down to the Bridestones. After about 1 mile we enter the Bridestones Moor Nature Reserve. Time to explore both the low and high Bridestones, these strange looking rocks are the result of thousands of years of water erosion. Once we finish exploring the stones we head down rapidly along Needle Point and into Dove Dale. We follow several farm roads and tracks until we meet the main A169 road, crossing carefully we head off across country passing Warren Farm. We are now in open country and heading for the wood that will take us down into the low Horcum. From this point we follow the trail through low Horcum and back to the car park.
In order for you to enjoy and take full advantage of the events on offer it is imperative that you look after yourself and turn up with the appropriate kit. We highly recommend suitable walking shoes/boots, proper outdoor clothing for the time of year and a reasonable level of walking fitness. Unfortunately young people under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
