APR’s engineers tested each intercooler in a multitude of tests to show the impact the APR intercooler has on intake air temperature. The following tests were conducted with a 2018 RS3 using our APR Stage 1 ECU Upgrade, 95RON fuel and no other modifications. Ambient conditions during the stock intercooler tests were 78.5°F and 98.06 kPa with 60.47% relative humidity. Conditions were far worse later in the day during during the APR Intercooler testing with 87.2°F and 98.03 KPa with 42.18% relative humidity. This gave the APR Intercooler no added advantage over the stock system during the tests.

First, six back-to-back dyno pulls were conducted with each intercooler. Each run was conducted in 4th gear, from idle to redline, with a cool down between runs. The stock intercooler failed to combat rising IAT’s and quickly exhibited power-robbing heat soak. IAT’s started at 42°C and quickly rose to 58°C by the end of the first dyno pull. This trend continued with the final dyno pull reaching a staggering 70°C! In contrast, the APR Intercooler started at the same temperature and only reached 44°C by the end of the first dyno pull. It was then able to continue rejecting heat, only reaching 54°C by the end of the final dyno pull. The APR Intercooler performed better after 6 back-to-back dyno pulls than the factory intercooler did on it’s very first dyno pull.

Please be aware you will need a US Spec Crash Bar and Foam Filler Piece in order to fit this to a UK Spec Vehicle.

Next we tested a 15-second sprint through the gears. With the factory intercooler, IAT quickly rose from a starting temperature of 37°C to a blistering 64°C! However, as expected, the APR intercooler handled IAT’s extremely well. With a starting temperature of 38°C, IAT dropped to as low as 33°C before slightly climbing above the starting temperature to 40°C by the end of the sprint. A difference of 23°C was exhibited between the two units after only a single 15 second sprint. This directly translates to faster acceleration, and better performance in all conditions.l.

The temperature difference between the stock and APR intercooler directly translates to more horsepower. Comparing best vs best, worst vs worse, and average vs average dynos from both systems, the APR Intercooler laid down 26 AWHP over stock in every scenario. This is easily one of the best dollar-per-horsepower hardware modifications one can make on this platform and highly recommended for anyone at any stage.

Premium experience from a scale
This scale is not cheap, but it comes with a premium experience. The overall build quality is excellent, and it looks and feels great. Scale is extremely sensitive and response, and very consistent. Quick to zero, quick to turn on. Display is clear and easy to read. Well insulated from water, with only the bottom being semi-exposed to liquids (note that it is NOT waterproof, so still be careful - do not submerge it). It also has an espresso mode which can be toggled on/off. That mode will automatically tare when placing things on it, meaning you can weigh your beans, take off the bowl and put back on a cup to brew the espresso into, all without tareing manually. It also detects when you're actually brewing, and it does so by detecting a steady flow of liquid. This specifically can be a bit finicky, it may or may not work for you depending on your machine and how you brew. My only single complaint is the volume of the beeping. By default it plays a loud beep whenever you're using the touch buttons. It is very loud and I turned it off immediately. Unfortunately it seems there is no way to lower the volume on the beeps. Not a deal-breaker at all for me, but something to consider if you care about audio feedback.

Reliable scale, great for starting on a budget while still getting fairly solid results
This scale performs wonderfully and is very reliable. I will say the only issue I am having is that it seems to be very very touchy with not getting an exact weight reading and flickers a lot. I don't think this is really an issue as it might just be super sensitive. But for the price it's absolutely worth it

You Don't Really Need This, But...
This combination coffee scale and timer works exactly as advertised. It measures weights up to 2000 grams with 1/10 gram accuracy. The scale has three operating modes: espresso, pour over and manual. In espresso mode, the scale will automatically tare after a cup is placed on it then automatically start the count up timer and weigh incoming espresso as it starts to pour. In pour over mode, it will automatically tare after your cup/dripper/filter is in place. Then it weighs out the coffee dose as you add it. After you tare again manually, the timer and scale will start as you pour hot water. This allows you to let the saturated coffee grounds off gas for the desired number of seconds before continuing the pour. Manual mode is just that. You control the tare function and start the timer yourself. Battery capacity is great so USB charging will be infrequently required. Accessories include a short USB-A to USB-C cord and a clip-on silicone heat shield to protect the scale from hot espresso. Coffee spills are easy to cleanup and don't seem to have any ill effects on the scale itself. One gripe though: the weighing platform is only about 10 cm square so anything larger than a small coffee cup will block part of the digital displays. After all, the scale needs to fit inside an espresso machine. It isn't a full size kitchen scale. But really, do you need this device? If you want to be ultra precise in your coffee measurements, you love gadgets, or you revel in the coffee making ritual, the answer is certainly YES!

Scale programming and stabilizing
It took me a little time to figure out the different programming modes but now I know how to get quickly to the program I need for the coffee I brew. The scale is very sensitive and it takes a second until the scale stabilizes. All in all, I like it.
