A Point-of-Entry water treatment system is installed on your side of the meter with the express purpose of treating all of the incoming water before it goes into the individual supply lines that feed your laundry, bathrooms (including toilets), dedicated outside faucets and others as well as your kitchen. POE systems often include softeners, large bed carbon filters, and some systems which are specifically designed to remove (or trap) sediment, foul tastes and odors. POE systems are sometimes considered pre-filters. A Point-of-Use water treatment system is installed in an individual source line ahead of any or all of the building's taps, faucets or other dedicated outlets used to dispense water for drinking, cooking or bathing. Good POU systems are often expected to capture whatever escapes the POE system.

Sediment water filters are designed to remove rust particles, sand, silt, scale particles, fine, coarse, extra-fine, loose scale, clay or organic material from water or other suspended materials. Pathogenic bacteria can hide within these materials or make the pathogens hard to remove. Sediment water filters can be used as pre-filters in combination KDF85/GAC Filter.

Benefits of KDF Process Media

  • Significantly extend the life of granular activated carbon
  • Are recyclable
  • Effectively remove chlorine and heavy metals and control microorganisms
  • Are available in four granular styles, each designed for a specific need
  • Outperform silver-impregnated carbons
  • Require no EPA registration, thus less red tape

Where are KDF Process Media used?

KDF Process Media are used in a variety of pretreatment, primary treatment, and industrial applications. They are generally used in place of, or in conjunction with, granular activated carbon filters, even carbon block or inline filters. KDF Process Media extend the life of granular activated carbon (GAC) while protecting the carbon bed against fouling by bacterial growth.

Our water filter media are also used to replace silver-impregnated systems. Silver is toxic, KDF Process Media are not. Silver must be registered with the EPA as a toxic pesticide, KDF Process Media do not. By the way, silver is more expensive than KDF Process Media.

KDF Process Media vs. Activated Carbon

KDF Media Activated Carbon
Life More than 6 years* Only 6 to 12 months
Bacteria and Algae Controls Both Permits Growth
Disposal Recyclable Hazardous Waste
Mechanism Oxidation/Reduction Adsorption
Lb/cu ft 171 35
Contaminants Eliminated Inorganic Organic

* With proper handling

What about KDF Process Media and RO, DI and IX systems?

Reverse Osmosis (RO), Deionization (DI) and Ion Exchange (IX) systems benefit from the use of KDF Process Media because our Media allow these systems to tend to their strengths. Our Media protect RO systems from chlorine degradation and bacterial contamination, extending the life of the systems' membranes. KDF Process Media protect expensive IX systems from becoming fouled with chlorine, algae, fungi and bacteria. Less fouling, longer life and reduced maintenance, all combine for lower costs.

KDF Process Media vs. Silver-Impregnated Carbon

Note: Gulf South Research Institute found silver-impregnated carbon provides the same performance as activated carbon, except in low pH water.

The life of filter depends on the contamination levels and amount of water consumed daily. The normal filter life for typical non commercial application is about 20,0000 gallons. For good results and longer filter life sediment filter is included.

I even used it on my face
Color: Bronze Gold
I purchased this shimmer oil to use on my legs when I’m wearing a summer slip dress. I’m not always fond of how my legs look, but once I smoothed this over my lightly tanned skin—wow, what a difference. The glow is subtle yet so flattering. One day I forgot my highlighter, so I lightly dabbed this over my contour, brushed a tiny bit over my lips with chapstick on top, and it looked amazing. Now it’s my go-to beach look: a little shimmer on my arms and legs, a tad on my lips, a soft sweep across my eyelids, and a touch on my cheekbones. It gives me that effortless, radiant vibe that’s perfect for summer.

Smells like crayons
Color: Bronze Gold
Stinks. Smells like covering yourself in melted crayons. Very cheap smelling. Left it on ny skin for an hour, then wiped with a rag and it immediately came right off. You're better off just getting bronzer.
