Bills older than 1959 will not have the chemical to detect counterfeit or not by using the pen. The reality is that this shouldn’t be a problem based on the current market and cash transactions.
How Does the Mark Work on the Bill?
All you have to do is draw on a bill with the counterfeit bill detector pen and one of two lines will show up - an amber line indicating the currency is real or a black line indicating it may be suspect.
