"Clea has always been a helper, and she's doing it again with this incredible book. She is sharing her cancer journey and helping you through yours. She will walk with you . . . holding your hand every step of the way." --Hoda Kotb

A comforting, empowering, practical, and beautifully written guide to living with breast cancer from Clea Shearer, cofounder of The Home Edit

In 2022, Clea Shearer thought: This is going to be the best year of my life. The Home Edit, the company she had cofounded and worked so hard to grow, was acquired by Hello Sunshine. She had just finished filming the second season of her Emmy-nominated show Get Organized with The Home Edit. She turned forty surrounded by candles, flowers, friends, and family. And then, on March 8, 2022, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her life as she knew it was over.

But life is full of nuances. As the months went by, Clea started to feel like she had been given an opportunity. What if she could share everything she experienced and learned throughout this process, so it would be a little less frightening for someone else? If she could manage to do that, maybe she could turn her cancer purposeful.

Cancer Is Complicated is the book that Clea wishes she'd had when she started on her cancer journey. It is a memoir and a guidebook, blending Clea's experiences and all the wisdom and advice she's gathered through this process. The book follows Clea through every step of her journey, from the moment she first felt a lump in her breast, through treatment, to where she is today. Clea also offers insights on questions big and small--from how to be your own biggest advocate, to knowing whom in your circle to share your diagnosis with, to understanding the emotional side of cancer, to what to bring with you to chemo, to things to eat when nothing else tastes good, and so much more.

Clea has built an incredibly successful career on empowering and helping people navigate the overwhelm of their homes--offering accessible ways for us to begin to put our lives in order. Here, she applies her wisdom to one of the most overwhelming and frightening experiences any human being ever has to face: cancer and illness.

Warm, honest, and straightforward in its approach, Cancer Is Complicated is for anyone with cancer or anyone who loves someone with cancer. It is a reminder to care for ourselves and one another, and it is here to help readers feel less alone and more prepared for the journey ahead.

Well written and eye opening
This book is easy to read and easy to comprehend. The writing is attractive and helps the reader understand with ease the challenges and difficulties in relationships with their significant other and or other people in their lives. After reading this, I believe love is perception based and it is a matter of just changing how you see things to understand and feel loved. The part that hit close to home for me was in the end where a man who had gone to prison had wrote the author to tell how he had never felt love from his mother but after reading the book, realized she had loved him all along but not in a language he spoke and it wasn't until he was about to be locked away from her that she spoke to him in the language of touch and opened his mind. It brought tears to my eyes because I identified myself with that man having that internal struggle When Love Was there all along. Love is the motivating factor in practically all of our life decisions. With it, we feel we can conquer the world and without it we feel abandoned and scared. It is all a matter of perception. Love yourself, love your family, love your friends, and all those that are close to you and unknown to you and the world is not such a scary place after all. This book is definitely going to be on the top of my shelf.

A quick and interesting read. It may help you broaden your horizons with relationships!
There is no real difference in terms of what you will take away from this book if you already read the original. This book gives you some manly homework, some insight into conflicts with perspectives that I did not think of. Suffice it to say, reading this book helped me grow as a person and helped with my relationship. You come out on top as a man since this book helps keep your cool. Basically what I'm trying to say is: If you never read any Love Language book and you want a more man-centric read. Get this and live it.

Bought as a gift
The young man is using the book to understand that we all have different love languages and I watch as he take interest in the content of the book. I gave both my daughters a copy last Christmas as part of their gifts as well. I have my copy of the book and it has helped me to understand others as well as myself more profoundly. Everyone one should get a copy for themself…a must have to help build better relationships.

Prescriptive approach to eye-opening information
This book has changed my perspective for the better. It is very prescriptive in its approach, but that's just what I needed. Not only can I better understand the love expressed by others in their unique way, but I have a better concept of how to express love in different "languages" and even "dialects." My understanding of others has greatly improved. I'm more excited to think of different ways to express my love. I just can't say enough about this book. It is well worth a second read as well just to be reminded of all the important messages. It also includes portions about controlling anger and apologies. The book doesn't contain information that's mind blowing, but the way it's presented can be life changing for some. It's the package deal on how to be a better lover.
