TRICHOforce™ comes as three different parasitoids that work to prevent and control moths and caterpillars.
TheTRICHOforce™ parasitoids work by laying their own eggs in the eggs of targeted pests, the TRICHOforce™ eggs then hatch, consume the embryo of the host egg, and then emerge to grow and lay more eggs. They have a lifespan of 7 days as immatures and up to 10 days as adults. Optimum performance conditions for them is between 70 and 85°F with a relative humidity around 60%.
TRICHOforce™ is shipped as pre-parasitized, ready-to-emerge flour moth eggs placed on a card perforated into 30 squares.
Applications:
- TRICHOforce™ B (Trichogramma brassicae) - a parasitoid wasp used to control moth and caterpillar pests by targeting their eggs before damage occurs. Females lay eggs inside host eggs of Lepidopteran species (moths and butterflies), including pests such as European corn borer (Ostrinia nubilalis), preventing larvae from hatching, and instead producing new parasitoids. Each female can parasitize up to 300 eggs, and this species is capable of targeting over 150 moth species, making it a highly effective preventative solution in field crops, gardens, vineyards, and nurseries.
- TRICHOforce™ M (Trichogramma minutum) - a parasitoid wasp used to control a wide range of moth pests by targeting their eggs and preventing larval development. This species parasitizes pests such as European corn borer, codling moth, diamondback moth, budworm, cranberry fireworm, and hemlock looper. By depositing eggs inside host eggs, developing larvae consumes the pest embryo and emerges as adult wasps, interrupting the pest lifecycle before crop damage occurs. This species is particularly well suited for orchard systems and taller crops where moth pressure is common.
- TRICHOforce™ PL (Trichogramma platneri) - a parasitoid wasp used for controlling moth pests such as corn borers, loopers, and worms by parasitizing their eggs. This species targets a broad range of Lepidopteran pests and is particularly effective in orchard and tall crop systems. By laying eggs inside pest eggs, developing larvae consumes the host and emerges as adult wasps, preventing pest outbreaks before feeding damage can occur. With a short lifecycle and rapid reproduction, this species supports ongoing preventative pest management programs.
