About the Workshop:
This in-person class at the Center for Book Arts and the Grolier Club is taught by instructor Reid Byers. Imaginary Books are simulacra, parodies of books that are either lost, never were finished, or only appear in stories in other books. The making of an imaginary book is a creative project that is one part literary, one part artistic, and one part theatrical. It results in a liminal object that separates us only by a thin line from the door into Wonderland. This course consists of two sessions, the first at the members’ exhibition space at the Grolier Club (47 East 60th St) for a tour of some 100 imaginary books, and the second, the following day, at the Center for Book Arts for a planning and design session for the students’ own projects. Students are asked to find (or invent) an idea for an imaginary book (preferably a book referred to in a novel or play). We will go through the literary process of documenting the book bibliographically and the artistic process of planning and designing the appropriate simulacrum. We will examine the many options available for instantiating the idea as a book object and select one for each student project. The discussion will conclude with an outline of an appropriate theatrical process for displaying and presenting the imaginary book as well as other kinds of fictive artRequired Materials:
- An idea or two for an imaginary book that the student would like to see realized
- Paper and pencil or pen, or ipad, tablet, or laptop, or whatever you are most comfortable writing and designing with

It was Mama's idea
My mom wanted this so if she requests something specifically then it is good. Honor your father and mother so your days will be long on the earth.

Miracle. It's a miracle.
Size: Standard (Medium)
After years and years of searching for a comfortable pillow, I've finally found it!
I was hesitant to try latex because I have severe sensory issues and thought it would be weird, smelly and maybe noisy. I really couldn't envision how it would work.
The reality is a perfectly bouncy soft pillow that supports your head and neck at just the right height and has immediate bounce back so that when you turn in the night you don't have to waste hours or even minutes fluffing plumping positioning or any other nonsense... You just flip yourself over and go back to sleep. It's a friggin miracle!!!
There is a very faint though tolerable and fading scent of balloons. Not too bad for me, but might be annoying to some.
Overall, thank goodness I bought this pillow. I'm tempted to replace all my pillows with latex ones but... I don't really need any other pillows now! Maybe I will just so I have spares or something.
Granted, it's only been about a week but I expect it to be fairly durable and hold it's quality for quite a while.
So thrilled! Just so happy with this purchase! Ten stars, ten hearts!

Very Firm Latex Medium, Appears Well-made
Size: Standard (Medium)
I love latex pillows, used them for decades. Then I got led astray! My neck reminded me I need firm, but soft and bouncy. This pillow is surprisingly firm for a medium. So think twice before ordering firm.
