Background

The S58 engine features a water-to-air charge cooler that works with a heat exchanger (water radiator) located at the front of the vehicle. This radiator cools the water circulating through the charge air cooler, effectively dissipating heat before it reaches the engine.

Challenges with the S58 Charge Air Cooling System

Tuned S58 engines may experience rapid heat-soak in the charge air cooling system, particularly during track use. High intake temperatures risk causing the ECU to reduce power output or result in limp mode. The do88 Radiator helps mitigate these issues by maintaining lower temperatures, thereby boosting both reliability and performance.

The do88 radiator has received a comprehensive redesign prioritising both durability and performance. Key features include:

• Durable Construction: Plastic components have been replaced with sturdy aluminium for the end tanks, core, and CNC-machined ports. All joints are TIG-welded for enhanced durability.
• Quad Pass Design: This innovative design allows coolant to pass through the radiator core four times, maximising heat dissipation.
• Increased Core Volume: The core volume is enlarged by 39%, along with a 9% increase in the external tube area, which works together to improve cooling capacity.
• Fluid Capacity: An increase of 1.4 litres in fluid capacity enhances heat dissipation.

Installation

The do88 Radiator is designed for easy fitment using your BMW’s factory components. It includes custom rock guards for protection against debris, making it suitable for G8X M2/M3/M4 models with either automatic or manual transmissions.
