This beautiful oil was made in her honor and in honor of my ancestors of Thrace (current Bulgaria). The mention of Aphrodite predates Greek times, and she was originally worshipped by the civilization that inhabited the Balkans. The Thrace civilization is one of them. She was a Thracian deity (later adapted by the Greeks). The protobúlgaros, also known as ancient Bulgarians (Thracians) had beliefs structured on paganism and worshipped different goddesses/deities. Aphrodite was one of them. A portion of her name, Αβеρε- spelled Αβеρεδιτα (Aberedita in English) corresponds to the Phrygian verb (which is an Indo-European language related to the Thracians) αββеρε, which means to bring, or to collect. The other part of the name διτα, which is the equivalent of the Bulgarian word “ditas” (English spelling), means children. The correct name of the goddess of love is Aberedita, and its meaning is “the one that brings children”, or “the one with children”. She was known as the goddess of fertility, in addition to being the goddess of love and beauty. In those times, fertility was more sought after and more valued than beauty.
