Anise Star (Illicium verum) is an evergreen tree with a compact pyramidal crown, reaching a height of 6-10 m. The leaves are leathery, bright green in color. Anise starflowers are pale yellow, light green, or purple in color, solitary, axillary, multi-petalled. The harvested fruit consists of solid single-seed shuttle-shaped leaflets collected around an axis. One seed develops within each achene. It is brown in color, hard, and shiny.

Alcohol is a stronger medium for the extraction of Star Anise Whole than water, so tinctures/extracts will have more of a plant’s constituents than a tea will. However, we also use hot water as an extraction media to capture water-soluble constituents. The alcohol allows quick absorption of the herb into the body.
Suggested use:
- Shake well before use.
- Read the directions on the bottle's label.
- For best results, place the liquid under your tongue for 1 min for direct access to your body system, some dilution in any tea or water is recommended as this is a strong alcohol flavor tincture.
