Installation Guide

Replacing a timing belt is a critical engine maintenance task. Professional installation is strongly recommended. Always consult your engine’s official service manual for detailed procedures, torque specifications, and safety warnings.

  1. Disconnect Power: Disconnect the battery cables to prevent accidental starting.
  2. Access the Belt: Remove the engine cowling and any other components (like the flywheel cover or intake manifold) obstructing access to the timing belt cover.
  3. Align Timing Marks: Rotate the crankshaft to align the timing marks on the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets with the reference points on the engine block. This is a critical step to ensure the engine remains in time.
  4. Release Tension: Loosen the timing belt tensioner bolt to release tension on the belt.
  5. Remove Old Belt: Carefully slide the old timing belt off the sprockets.
  6. Install New Belt: Install the new belt, ensuring it engages correctly with all sprockets and that any directional arrows on the belt are pointing in the direction of engine rotation.
  7. Apply Tension: Re-engage the tensioner to apply the correct tension to the new belt as specified in the service manual.
  8. Verify Timing: Rotate the crankshaft manually for two full revolutions and confirm that all timing marks align perfectly once again.
  9. Reassemble: Reinstall the timing belt cover and all other components that were removed.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I confirm this fits my engine?
Verify your engine's model, horsepower (HP), and year of manufacture against the "Compatible Engine Models" table above. For Yamaha engines, ensuring the model code (e.g., F150TXR, F130LB) matches the notes is the best way to confirm fitment.

What are the signs of a failing timing belt?
Common symptoms include a ticking or rattling noise from the front of the engine, rough idling, engine misfires, or a complete loss of power if the belt breaks. Visual inspection may reveal cracks, fraying, or missing teeth on the belt.

How often should I replace the timing belt?
While service intervals vary, most manufacturers, including Yamaha, recommend replacing the timing belt every 800–1,000 service hours or every 5 years, whichever comes first. Consult your owner's service manual for the exact maintenance schedule for your specific engine model.

Actually stands up to use
Size: 4.5", Size: 4.5"
I have a pitbull who is a toy destroyer. All those toys, even the ones that say tough enough for destroyers, never hold up. THESE BALLS ARE AWESOME! I bought the 2 pack of the 4.5 inch balls and they lasted a year. I literally am writing this review after ordering a new set. These are well worth the money and Ghost (my dog) loves them. Hes a 103lbs pitbull and his life mission is cuddles and destroying his toys... and these lasting a year of everyday use is friggin awesome. Both toys failed in the same way eventually. They gave out in a circle around the "squeker".

She chewed it up in less than 10 minutes. This is not for heavy chewers but dogs that like to actually play with their toys it would be great!!! I gave it a 3 because it worked for my other dog who likes to play🤘

Our German Sheppard loves these
Size: Medium
These cost a bit more than tennis balls, but they are so much nicer and longer lasting. For starters, they stay cleaner than tennis balls because they’re smooth rubber. Dirt won’t build up on them and if anything does stick, like grass or soil, it falls off once the dog slobber dries. They’re also thick, so they don’t fall apart or blow out like a normal tennis ball does in our dog’s jaws after 30 seconds. Our GS chomps on these like crazy and the only damage they’ve suffered is a crack that developed from the edge of the hole, but the crack is growing very slowly and none of these balls have totally failed yet. The balls do whistle when thrown ant high speed and that may help a dog track and locate it, but I’m not sure. Our neighbors hear the whistling too so it’s far from silent. Lastly the orange ball is easy to locate out in our yard, but the dark blue practically disappears.

Great for smaller dogs
Size: Small
These two balls are perfect for the smaller mouthed dog that loves to play fetch. These balls are not only super durable (lots of teeth biting), but float in the baby pool we use for our miniature dachshunds. The value here is much better than you’d find anywhere else. The noise, if bitten hard enough, was “low” at best. Easy to spot/find if overthrown. Will definitely buy again once these are in bad repair; so far, so good-love these for my fur babies!

My dogs favorite balls
Size: Medium
These are great for my dog who always has to have a ball in her mouth. Not too hard so I don't have to worry about her teeth. They last for ever. They do lose their shape a little over time (like I said, she always has a ball in her mouth) they become a little oval in shape. They still bounce, she still chases it and she still chews on it so I don't think she notices or cares. I've gotten her a bag full of these over time and I have only seen one that she chewed a chunk out.
