Installation Guide

Follow these steps to safely install your transom saver:

  1. Trim the outboard motor to the full upward position to expose the trim rams.
  2. Slide the transom saver support block over one or two of the trim ram pistons, depending on your system.
  3. Ensure the support is seated correctly on the ram(s).
  4. Slowly lower the engine until it makes firm contact with the support block, creating pressure to hold it in place.
  5. For added security, install the two steer stop stabilizer clips onto the hydraulic steering cylinder shafts on either side of the outboard. This prevents the engine from turning during transit.
  6. Before trailering, always double-check that the motor is secure and does not have excessive movement.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Q: How do I know if this transom saver will fit my specific outboard model?
A: This support is designed for a wide range of outboards from Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki, Honda, Evinrude, and Tohatsu that use a 2 or 3 ram trim/tilt system. Please review our compatibility tables for specific model and horsepower ranges. Pay close attention to the "Notes" column, as some engines may require minor modification for a proper fit (e.g., cutting a small section) or are not compatible (e.g., Mercury Verado models).

Q: What is the purpose of the two included red clips?
A: The two steer stop stabilizer clips are designed to be placed on your boat's hydraulic steering rams. They prevent the engine from turning side-to-side during trailering, providing extra stability and protecting your steering system.

Q: How is this different from a traditional transom saver bar?
A: Unlike a traditional bar that connects the motor's lower unit to the trailer frame, this type of support works by bracing the engine's own tilt and trim system. It's often quicker to install and removes the risk of damaging the lower unit or trailer if you hit a large bump. It isolates the motor's movement without transferring shock to the trailer.

Q: Is this part an OEM component?

Helpful for exam preparation
Format: Paperback
This is helpful in getting me ready for exams. I fill it in and then study it with my other notes and resources before exams. The activities can be fun (crossword puzzle) or simple fill in the blank. I think I have found 1 or 2 errors that do not match up to the reading but I find errors in the online questions provided with the textbook as well. Helpful to absorb detailed topics. I appreciate that there are answers in the back also so I can ensure I have found the right answer. Love the section that provides hypothetical patient or family questions where I can take the knowledge and put it in layman's terms so I'm ready to explain the pathophysiology in basic terms when needed.

Important to Know
Format: Paperback
I very much like this study guide. It has helped me study for my exams. Some of my test questions have even come straight from this book. HOWEVER, I do caution anyone who buys this book to double check the answers. I have come across MULTIPLE typos and incorrect answers in the Answer Key. I like the content of this book, but for a professionally printed book, the overall completeness is poor.

Great purchase
Format: Paperback
This was a great addition to the textbook. The textbook was awful in my opinion but this study guide really explained it in a easy to understand and direct way. I love the matching, fill in the blank and most importantly the case studies. Really helps you figure out what you may encounter pathophysiology wise when caring for patients.
