This wonderful woven basket was handmade by Berber women in the Rif mountains, using coiled reed and palm leaves.

Its striking geometric patterns in natural colours are perfect for the boho and rustic style interior. Use it as a fruit basket, for breads, wall hanging or whatever you like.

The berbers take their inspirations from their life and surroundings. The symbols on this basket depict that life. Being in the mountains, it is only natural for them to be from what is around them, animals, insects, plants and flowers. It can also be of life and fertitility, festivals and celebrations.

Some of these symbols were also tattoo motifs, adorned by the Berber women, a pre Islamic Amazigh rites, believed to be a form of protection and a connection between the human and mystical world.
