The TE-1009 glass cartridge with stainless steel screens serves as a critical component in dual sampling module PUF systems for EPA-compliant ambient air monitoring. This glass cartridge fits within the lower chamber of dual sampling modules where it typically contains polyurethane foam (PUF) for vapor entrapment. The integrated stainless steel screens provide structural support and ensure proper airflow distribution through the sorbent media during sampling operations.
Technical Design
The glass cartridge construction with stainless steel screens allows for direct and repeated sampling, extraction, and cleaning without disassembly. Stainless steel screens are used when cellulose or plastic will interfere with analysis, making them ideal for semi-volatile organic compound collection. The borosilicate glass construction provides chemical inertness and temperature resistance required for sampling harsh environmental conditions.
Compatibility
The TE-1009 cartridge is designed for use in Tisch Environmental dual sampling module systems and other PUF samplers requiring glass cartridge components. The cartridge can accommodate PUF/XAD-2 combination media for improved volatile component extraction, and high volume polyurethane foam cartridges packed in glass sleeves for collecting pesticide samples using high volume samplers at 250 L/min. Compatible with both high-volume and low-volume PUF sampling configurations.
Applications
The glass cartridge meets specifications for EPA TO-13A, EPA IP-7, TO-4A methods and is suitable for collection of semivolatiles including pesticides, PCBs, and PAHs in ambient, indoor, and industrial hygiene applications. PUF-resin cartridges have become standard for many SVOCs in ambient air sampling per U.S. EPA guidelines. The system enables simultaneous collection of both airborne particulates and vapor-phase organic compounds for comprehensive environmental monitoring.
Maintenance Notes
The glass construction allows for thorough cleaning and reuse when following proper decontamination procedures. The threaded design permits removal of the cartridge intact for immediate exchange, with gaskets providing leak-proof seals during sampling. Regular inspection of stainless steel screens ensures continued structural integrity and optimal flow characteristics throughout extended sampling periods.
