Grow edible mushrooms in your classroom — first harvest in 10–14 days.

The TG-02 Rental gives Queensland primary school classrooms a complete Mushroom Growing Box for one school term. Students set up the growing substrate in Week 1 and can see their first mushroom harvest within two weeks. The growing cycle is fast enough to complete multiple harvests within a single term.

What's Included

The rental includes the full LaNiTex Mushroom Growing Box — a self-contained mushroom cultivation system with a pre-inoculated oyster mushroom substrate block. STEM curriculum-aligned resources are included to connect the growing project to classroom learning.

Setup is straightforward. Position the kit on a bench away from direct sunlight, maintain humidity by misting the substrate twice daily, and monitor growth as part of daily class observations. No soil. No outdoor access. No specialist equipment required.

Curriculum Connections

The mushroom grow project supports Australian Curriculum V9.0 outcomes across:

  • Science — biological sciences, kingdoms of life (fungi), decomposition and nutrient cycling, living things and their environments
  • HASS — food sources, sustainability, responsible consumption
  • Design & Technologies — food production systems, biological systems

Fungi are one of the five kingdoms of life and are rarely studied hands-on in primary school science. This project gives students direct experience of a growing organism that is neither plant nor animal — a genuinely memorable contrast to standard plant-based activities.

Students observe mycelium growth and pin formation before watching full mushrooms emerge. Growth is visible within a day or two of pinning, which keeps daily observation rewarding.

Why Mushrooms Work in the Classroom

Oyster mushrooms grow reliably across a wide indoor temperature range and tolerate standard classroom conditions. Maintenance takes under 2 minutes per day — a brief misting to maintain surface humidity is all that is needed.

After the first harvest, the substrate typically supports a second flush of mushrooms. A full school term can include two complete growth cycles, giving students the opportunity to observe and record the regenerative lifecycle of the organism twice over.

The Term-Grow Program

The TG-02 is part of LaNiTex's Term-Grow Enrolment program — a term-based rental scheme designed to make hands-on food growing accessible to Queensland primary schools. The program is run by founder Laszlo Bulatko from Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Coast.

“A Clear, Engaging, and Accurate Overview of
Format: Kindle
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book is an excellent read! It provides a well-organized and concise summary of Ethiopia’s entire history, which is no small task given the country’s rich and complex past. The writing is consistent, informative, and historically accurate, making it easy to follow and deeply engaging. I especially appreciate how it also includes insights into Eritrea’s history, offering a broader understanding of the region. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a solid, accessible introduction to Ethiopian and Eritrean history. Captivating History did a fantastic job!

A compact history
Format: Paperback
Sometimes we want to take a historical subject that we know little about and get a brief gloss to learn enough to discover which parts of the subject we want to delve into at greater length. "History of Ethiopia" is exactly what we need to satisfy that desire. We get the entire history of the African nation, from the very ancient days up to this very year, 2022. naturally, we do not get many nuances. What we do get is the big picture. We know how the various periods in history fit together. From the Queen of Sheba to the nasty era of the Communist Derg, we get a little bit of everything. One irritation that I had was the coverage of the Ethiopian-Somalia war in the 1970s. The crucial role played by the Cuban army is committed entirely. On the other hand, the 1540 Portuguese expedition headed by Christopher da Gama is briefly but adequately covered. Save for the intervention of da Gama the kingdom might well have been lost. If you need a fast introduction to Ethiopia, this is a good place to begin. Captivating History, the maker, has dozens of similar books, often on specific, narrowly focuses topics.

Ethiopia from the time when the Queen of Sheba ruled
Format: Kindle
Ethiopia has a long rich history that Captivating History managed to cover in 100 pages. This book starts out by letting us know that Ethiopia is one of the first places humans settled in. One of the first kingdoms in Ethiopia was the Kingdom of Aksum. Like most African countries, Aksum established trade routes and had the silk road running through their kingdom. The Queen of Sheba is a controversial historical leader. Many scholars believe she was queen in Ethiopia. The bible states that a queen of the south came to Israel to meet King Solomon. Historians believe that the queen of the south was in fact the Queen of Sheba. While the queen was there her and King Solomon became very close and when the Queen of Sheba returned to Ethiopia she had King Solomon's baby. Menelik I may have been King Solomon's son. Some believe that when Menelik I when to visit his father, King Solomon, Menelik returned to Ethiopia with the Ark of the Covenant. Some believe that the ark is hidden away in some Ethiopian monastery, still today. There is still a lot of Ethiopia's history left for you to learn about by reading this book.

History of Ethiopia
Format: Kindle
Ethiopia is an essential nation-state in Africa. It has a great civilization and history. The reign of Johannes IV was crucial to the Kingdom of Ethiopia. Moreover, Haile Selassie was another vital emperor. Ethiopia suffered under communism. Currently, Ethiopia faces foreign challenges from its neighbors and political corruption domestically. Specifically, political unrest dominates the domestic life of Ethiopia. The author presents and discusses the achievements and challenges of the Ethiopian people from Ancient Times to Modern Times. It is a well-written book.
