Weaving the raffia fibers into a textile was mostly done by men, however women did the dying and elaborate embroidery. Raffia, which comes from the Raffia Palm Tree, is notoriously difficult to work with. Soaking and pounding were both used to soften the fibers.

Love these shoes, they're super comfy. Laces stayed tied all day. I wear them in a business casual environment, or if I'm going out for a nice meal with my wife. They look good, the color is unassuming and neutral. they also elevate my height, I feel like it gives me an inch or so more versus regular shoes. This is my second pair!
