AudioQuest Vodka 48 4K/8K/10K HDMI Cable at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The Vodka 48 is a Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cable from AudioQuest (San Luis Obispo, California, USA), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Sitting above the Pearl 48, Forest 48, and Carbon 48 in AudioQuest's 48-Series lineup, the Vodka 48 is distinguished by its 10% Silver-Plated Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductors on all A/V and eARC signal pairs, and its Level-3 Noise-Dissipation system, which adds a high-loss carbon layer sandwiched between metallic shield layers around all four FRL pairs and the eARC pair, going significantly beyond the direction-controlled conductor approach of lower-series cables. Full 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 bandwidth enables 4K/120, 8K/60, and up to professional 10K Ultra HD video, Dynamic HDR in all formats, eARC for lossless multi-channel audio, and all HDMI 2.1 gaming features. All 19 conductors including A/V pairs, eARC pair, Ground-Reference drains, and control and power conductors are direction-controlled throughout. Son-Vidéo's comprehensive comparative review of the full AudioQuest 48-Series found that the Vodka 48 "achieves a rare balance between harmonic richness and naturalness," with string instruments gaining "in density and substance" and bass going "deeper, with more stability and density" than lower-tier models.

10% Silver-Plated LGC Conductors: Why the Conductor Surface Determines Noise Performance

The fundamental technical advance of the Vodka 48 over the Pearl 48 and Forest 48 is the silver plating applied to its Long-Grain Copper conductors. At the extremely high signal frequencies involved in 48Gbps HDMI transmission, the skin effect causes virtually all current to travel along the outermost surface layer of the conductor rather than through its interior. The material of that outer surface therefore dominates the conductor's electrical performance at these frequencies. AudioQuest applies a 10% silver plating to the LGC copper core of the Vodka 48's conductors, placing silver, which has the highest electrical conductivity of any metal, precisely where the signal travels. This maximizes the efficiency of RF noise dissipation at the conductor surface while maintaining the cost-effective LGC copper core that carries the bulk of the conductor's cross-section. The progression across AudioQuest's 48-Series reflects this principle: Pearl 48 uses unplated LGC, Cinnamon 48 adds 0.5% silver plating, Carbon 48 uses solid silver-plated copper with 1.25% silver content, and the Vodka 48 applies 10% silver plating, a substantially thicker silver layer that provides proportionally greater surface-conductivity and noise-dissipation benefits at the 48Gbps signal frequencies.

Level-3 Noise-Dissipation: Carbon Mesh-Network Between Metallic Layers

All AudioQuest 48-Series cables begin with Level-1 Noise-Dissipation, in which all 19 conductors are direction-controlled to drain RF noise away from the most vulnerable circuits. The Vodka 48 adds Level-3 Noise-Dissipation, which introduces a high-loss carbon layer sandwiched between metallic shield layers around all four FRL (Fixed Rate Link) data pairs and the eARC conductor pair. This carbon mesh-network functions as an additional noise-absorption mechanism at the layer between the conductor and the outermost metallic shield. When RF noise is induced into the cable from external sources, it must pass through this carbon layer before reaching the metallic ground reference. The carbon's partial conductivity absorbs and dissipates the RF energy at this intermediate layer rather than allowing it to flow through to the equipment's ground plane, where it would modulate sensitive audio and video circuits. The result is a multi-stage noise-management architecture that addresses RF contamination at both the conductor level (through direction control and silver plating) and at the shield level (through the carbon interlayer), producing the significantly lower noise floor that the Vodka 48 delivers compared to the Pearl 48 and Forest 48.

eARC Performance and 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 Features

The Vodka 48 applies the same 10% silver-plated LGC conductors and Level-3 Noise-Dissipation to its dedicated eARC conductor pair as to the main A/V data pairs. This is a meaningful distinction: the eARC channel carries lossless audio formats including Dolby TrueHD with Atmos object metadata and DTS-HD Master Audio from the television back to an AV receiver or soundbar, and the quality of its conductor and noise-dissipation directly affects the audio clarity of this return path. The Vodka 48's 48Gbps bandwidth, enabled by four balanced audio/video pairs each capable of 12Gbps, supports the full HDMI 2.1 feature set: 4K/120, 8K/60, and up to professional 10K Ultra HD video; all Dynamic HDR formats including Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG; Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and Quick Frame Transport (QFT) for PS5, Xbox Series X, and gaming PC applications. The cable is Certified Ultra High Speed by HDMI Licensing, independently confirming its 48Gbps bandwidth reliability.

Key Features

  • 10% Silver-Plated Long-Grain Copper (LGC) Conductors: Silver plating applied to the outer surface of LGC copper conductors on all A/V and eARC signal pairs, placing the highest-conductivity metal where 48Gbps signal frequencies travel via the skin effect, maximizing noise-dissipation efficiency at the conductor surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the AudioQuest Vodka 48 HDMI cable?

The AudioQuest Vodka 48 is a Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cable built with 10% silver-plated Long-Grain Copper conductors on all A/V and eARC pairs, Level-3 Noise-Dissipation with a high-loss carbon mesh-network layer between metallic shields around all four FRL and eARC pairs, and all 19 conductors direction-controlled throughout. It delivers 48Gbps bandwidth for 4K/120, 8K/60, and up to 10K Ultra HD video, Dynamic HDR, eARC, and all HDMI 2.1 gaming features. It is available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada.

How does the AudioQuest Vodka 48 compare to the Pearl 48, Forest 48, or Carbon 48?

The four cables share the same 48Gbps bandwidth and HDMI 2.1 certification, but differ in conductor material and noise-dissipation level. The Pearl 48 uses unplated LGC conductors with Level-1 Noise-Dissipation (direction-controlled conductors only). The Forest 48 adds 0.5% silver plating. The Carbon 48 increases silver plating to 1.25% and adds a carbon noise-dissipation layer. The Vodka 48 applies 10% silver plating, the thickest in the standard 48-Series, alongside Level-3 Noise-Dissipation, which sandwiches a high-loss carbon mesh-network between metallic shield layers around all four FRL data pairs and the eARC pair. Son-Vidéo's comparative review of all four models found the Vodka 48 to be the model where "harmonic richness and naturalness" fully converge, with benefits most apparent in midrange density, bass stability, and orchestral clarity.

What is Level-3 Noise-Dissipation and how does it work?

Level-3 Noise-Dissipation is AudioQuest's most advanced noise-management system in the standard 48-Series cables. It builds on Level-1 (direction-controlled conductors) by adding a high-loss carbon mesh-network layer physically sandwiched between metallic shield layers around all four FRL data pairs and the dedicated eARC pair. When RF interference is induced into the cable from external sources such as Wi-Fi routers, cellular signals, and switching power supplies, it must pass through this carbon interlayer before reaching the metallic ground reference. The carbon's partial conductivity absorbs and dissipates the RF energy at this intermediate stage, preventing it from flowing through to the equipment's ground plane where it would modulate sensitive audio and video circuits. This two-stage approach, addressing RF noise at both the conductor level through silver plating and direction control, and at the shield level through the carbon mesh-network, produces the Vodka 48's lower noise floor compared to cables using direction-control alone.

Why does silver plating on the conductor surface improve performance in a 48Gbps HDMI cable?

At the signal frequencies involved in 48Gbps HDMI transmission, the skin effect causes current to travel almost exclusively along the outermost surface layer of the conductor. The electrical conductivity of that outer surface is therefore the dominant factor in the conductor's performance at these frequencies. Silver has the highest electrical conductivity of any metal, surpassing copper. By applying 10% silver plating to the outer surface of the LGC copper conductor, AudioQuest places silver precisely where the 48Gbps signal frequencies travel, maximizing conductivity and noise-dissipation efficiency at the surface while retaining the structural and cost advantages of the LGC copper core. The progression from Pearl 48's unplated copper through the 0.5%, 1.25%, and 10% silver plating of successive models reflects this principle: each additional thickness of silver provides greater surface conductivity benefits at HDMI's high operating frequencies.

Can the AudioQuest Vodka 48 be used with a PS5, Xbox Series X, or gaming PC?

Yes. The Vodka 48 is Certified Ultra High Speed by HDMI Licensing and fully supports all HDMI 2.1 gaming features including 4K/120 gameplay, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) for tear-free visuals, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for automatic game mode switching, and Quick Frame Transport (QFT) for reduced input latency. All of these features require a Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cable, which the Vodka 48 is. For gaming applications, the Vodka 48's lower noise floor compared to standard certified cables means the eARC audio return channel also operates at higher quality when sending game audio from the TV to an AV receiver or soundbar.

Where can I buy the AudioQuest Vodka 48 HDMI cable in Toronto or Canada?

The AudioQuest Vodka 48 is available in Toronto, Canada at Vinyl Sound, an authorized AudioQuest dealer. You can purchase it in store or through the Vinyl Sound online store at vinylsound.ca, with shipping available across Canada. Purchasing from an authorized Canadian dealer also ensures coverage under AudioQuest's non-transferable limited lifetime warranty.

Does the direction of the AudioQuest Vodka 48 matter during installation?

Yes. All 19 conductors in the Vodka 48 are direction-controlled, and the cable is marked with directional arrows indicating the correct installation orientation. The arrows should point from the source device toward the display or AV receiver, meaning the source end connects to your player, console, or media streamer and the output end connects to your TV, projector, or receiver. Installing the cable in the correct direction ensures that RF noise is drained away from the most sensitive downstream circuits throughout all 19 conductors.

Camouflages well with the skin and sticks long enough
I was excited to try these Halo Dot patches because I was having some breakouts before a wedding I had to attend. I put these on three nights before the wedding only at nights and left them on until the morning. I washed my face the 1st night, yet the second night I did not and it still attached (mind that I have a very oily face by the end of the day). With every application I saw good results as the breakouts were being reduced with each use. It is easy to put on and to carry out if you need to travel because it comes in two separate little envelope like package that you can put in a backpack/purse. These are thin and are almost not visible.

Easy to Use and Surprisingly Effective
Even though I am well past the age when I thought breakouts would stop happening, I still get the occasional pimple. As luck would have it, I felt one starting to pop up on my cheek the day after these Halo Dot Pimple Patches arrived. Before bed, after washing and thoroughly drying my face, I applied one of the patches. It peeled easily from the backing sheet, and when I realized I had not placed it quite right, I was pleasantly surprised that I could lift and reposition it without any trouble. What really impressed me was how well it blended into my skin. I was only wearing it overnight, but honestly, I do not think anyone would have noticed it unless they were looking very closely. In fact, I forgot I even had it on until I looked in the mirror the next morning. The patch peeled off easily and had clearly pulled some of the buildup from the blemish overnight. There was no redness or irritation afterward, and the spot looked dramatically improved by morning. The only downside for me is the price, especially since the package contains just 33 patches. That said, if they continue to work this well, I would definitely consider purchasing them again.

Love these already! Came in handy just when I need it!
These acne patches came in really handy when I had a random breakout near my lip, especially since that’s an area where I tend to wear a lot of makeup. They helped gently draw out impurities without being harsh on my skin. I also like that they blend in well on the skin. They’re not tinted, but they still work nicely across different skin tones like advertised, which makes them less noticeable while wearing them. You get a good amount in the package as well—33 patches total, with 18 patches on each sheet. Overall, they’re convenient to have on hand for unexpected breakouts, and I would definitely recommend them.

Keeps my wild child busy!
Color: Orange
*UPDATE 1/10/26* Does my pup love it? Yes. 5 stars for that. His big thing is just holding it in his mouth though, and laying down with it. Then he will put it down, and as soon as it rolls away he gets up and grabs it again. He definitely requires attention from his humans when it’s turned on…kind of defeats the purpose of why I bought it! He’s a needy boy, that’s for sure, so it’s not the toy’s fault. Two improvements I’d love to see though, are 1) the ability to turn off that yappy bark. I think my dog is more excited about it moving and not so much the yapping. Not that it’s bad, but my boy doesn’t bark much so I’m used to a quieter household. And 2) when removing the base for powering off, there should be a sensor so it doesn’t keep spinning in the socket, occasionally slipping out and hitting the floor. I worry about it breaking due to this. This thing arrived today and we couldn’t wait till Christmas to give it to our high play drive Australian Shepherd. It’s been barely above zero for weeks with no end in sight, and I have cold weather asthma so I really try to limit my exposure to the elements. Needless to say, my dog has been B O R E D. He truly craves interactive play with his humans, but last week I bought a cheap r/c cat toy that really caught his attention. So I splurged on this toy and so far, it’s AWESOME. He can’t control himself when the rope starts spinning. He pounces on it and it goes spinning off and around. He keeps picking it up thinking it’ll stop, but it keeps going. After 5 minutes of play he was acting completely gassed, but he just can’t resist it, as he put it down to get a drink of water and it started spinning again. Forget the water, I need that toy! As long as this thing can handle the teeth, slobber, dirt and grime, I’ll be a repeat customer!
