Three Miners Estate Central Otago Pinot Noir 2017"A fabulously expressed pinot; the wine is wonderfully fruited on the nose showing black cherry, plum, toasted almond and floral characters with nuances of game and warm spice. The palate delivers succulent fruit intensity and fleshy mouthfeel, beautifully supported by silky texture and a lingering flowing finish. "Even, dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is elegantly concentrated with firm and deep aromas of ripe, dark-red cherry and raspberry fruit along with notes of plums unfolding violet florals. Medium-bodied, the palate has rich and sweetly ripe, aromatic fruit flavours raspberries and dark plums intermixed with violet florals and a suggestion of dark herbs. The fruit forms a gently packed heart and is supported by light, fine-grained tannin structure with balanced acidity. This has good linearity and the wine carries to a plush and juicy finish. This is a sweetly ripe, juicy Pinot Noir with aromatic flavours of raspberries and plums with violet florals on a finely concentrated palate. Match with poultry and pork over the next 4-5+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the vineyard, clones 777, 115 and 114, fully destemmed and fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 27% new French oak barriques" Raymond Chan, Jul 2018
"Lovely perfumed Pinot, tasty, medium-boied red that drinks well now and can age for up to 10 years" Joelle Thomson
Medium to dark purple in the glass with pink hues. Fragrant lifted florals, red berry fruits and spice. Lovely sweet and juicy palate with black and red cherry, ripe black plum and spice. Medium bodied, plush and complex with velvety silky tannins and a long and generous red fruit finish.
The fruit (clones 777, 115 and 114) was hand harvested on the 12th of April 2017 with an average of 21.7 brix. The fruit was de-stemmed into an open top stainless steel tank. Fermentation carried out by selected yeast until the wine was dry. The wine was aged in French Oak barriques for approximately 10 months, of which 27% was new oak.
Food Pairing: Duck and cherries, roast lamb rack and classic dishes.
