The MAX882 uses P channel MOSFET pass transistor to maintain low 11A (15A maximum) supply current from no load to the full 200mA output. The MAX882ESA+ is a low IQ, low dropout linear regulator in 8 pin NSOIC package. It maximizes battery life by combining ultra low supply currents and low dropout voltages. It has 200mA output current capability at up to +125°C junction temperature. The MAX882 uses P-channel MOSFET pass transistor to maintain low 11µA (15µA maximum) supply current from no load to the full 200mA output. Unlike earlier bipolar regulators, there are no PNP base current losses that increase with output current. In dropout, the MOSFET does not suffer from excessive base currents that occur when PNP transistors go into saturation. The MAX882 features a 7µA standby mode that disables the output but keeps the reference, low battery comparator and biasing circuitry alive. This device includes low battery detection comparator, foldback current limiting, reverse current protection and thermal overload protection.

- Internal 1.1ohm P-channel pass transistor draws no base current

- Load regulation of 30mV (IOUT = 1mA to 150mA) and line regulation of 10mV
- Foldback current limit of 170mA (VOUT < 0.8V) and 430mA (VOUT > 0.8V and VIN - VOUT > 0.7V)

Comfortable at first, but didn’t hold up long-term

The size felt true and the feel was comfortable right out of the box. I liked the softness of the footbed, and the wearability was good for everyday errands and casual outings at first.
Unfortunately, after about six months of regular use, they started falling apart. While the versatility was nice and the thickness felt fine for warm weather, the overall durability just wasn’t there. They’re okay for short-term use, but I wouldn’t expect them to last long.
