The Marcello-class submarines were among the most successful produced by Italian shipyards, boasting a larger displacement and more torpedo tubes than the German Type VII C. Fast, durable, and maneuverable, they were a serious threat to Allied shipping. Supporting them are the nimble MAS boats, capable of reaching 45 knots and known for their daring attacks, including the torpedoing of HMS Capetown. Complementing the fleet are the larger, more seaworthy MS boats, which excelled in long-range patrols and famously sank HMS Manchester in 1942.
