Original Italian WWII ONB Fascist Youth Balilla Blank Firing M1891 Carcano Child’s Training Carbine by FNA

This is a very nice "Child-Sized" blank firing Carcano Model 1891 Carbine, officially termed the Moschetto Regolomentare Ballila Modelo 1891 (Balilla Regulatory Musket Modelo 1891). These scaled-down Mannlicher-Carcano pattern bolt-action carbines were intended for Italian Fascist Youth training, used by the Opera Nazonale Balilla (ONB), 1926-1937 and the follow-on Gioventù Italiana del Littorio (GIL) through WWII. Intended to only fire a 6mm blank cartridge, these diminutive “Ballila” pieces were also fitted with an equally small folding bayonet at the end of their 14-inch barrel.

Not intended for any actual firing use, these were intended to instill an esprit de corps in the youths who used them. They also provided a way of training the youths in the handling and care of rifles, and for this reason many, such as this example, have rifled barrels, so they could learn to clean fouling from the blanks. The youngest of these groups intended to receive training were only 6-8 years old and were mustered as units called
Figli del Lupa(Children of the She Wolf.) Hence the carbines needed to be quite lightweight.

This example was produced in 1931, as marked on the end of the "barrel", along with the production information:

Dated 1931 (Early) Markings - 1931-1x / F.N.A. / Brescia / 1632 / ONB / Fabr. Naz. Darmi / Brescia

Most of these were made by Toy manufacturers, however this example was made at the Fabbrica Nazonale d'Armi (National Army Factory or FNA) in Brescia, a city with a long history of firearms production.

29 ¾ Inches long / Original / Comes with tiny cleaning rod / Missing end cap and bayonet / Working order

Insight into Malcolm X’s philosophy
Format: Paperback
We appreciated getting a feel for the oratory and writing of this leading civil rights figure. Didn’t know he was a separatist at the beginning of his public life, and appreciated this perspective within the context of the wider movement. Ended up really liking and respecting his life and work.

You're a chump
The most unique thing about Malcolm X is he never wrote anything, he simply spoke the truth and that alone has proven to withstand the tides of time because his words are still fresh as ever. His speeches always find a way to get to your spirit and makes you rethink the world you are living in. After reading this book, i forget which speech it was exactly, he mentioned something about negores not knowing their history and it was up to them to go forth and reconnect with their homeland. This led me to wonder where I came from. Even though I am not black, I felt as if he was speaking directly to me and this is the kind of power he had. he made you look upon yoyurself and force yourself to ask, "Who am i? And Do I really hate myself?" Racism is still an issue in this country. It has not gone away and malcolm X was never afraid to point out the hypocrisy of the system I was taught to honor and defend. Surely, not one the best books on his speeches out there, but nonetheless powerful enough to get you thinking about the injustice we face everyday. A man who taught you how to be a human being in the end of his life. Today, more than ever his words should never be forgotten.

Malcolm speaks from the heart
"If George Washington didn't get independence for this country nonviolently, and if Patrick Henry didn't come up with a nonviolent statement, and you taught me to look upon them as patriots and heroes, then it's time for you to realize that I have studied your books well..." Malcolm X It is statements like this that make me love reading about Malcolm X. His intelligence, charisma and courage emanate from his words. He inspires, challenges and provokes his listeners to change their thinking. Not only does he challenge others, but he challenges himself to constantly analyze, to constantly evolve. Malcolm X Speaks is an excellent read, from cover to cover. If you want a good idea of where Malcolm was heading before his untimely death, this is the book.
