The Hurricane Mk.II IIc carried a more powerful Merlin X X engine; its nose was about 11.4cm longer than that of the Mk.I, and it was fitted with a large radiator. Its armament was changed from 12 .303-caliber machine guns of Mk.IIb called Haribomer to four Hispano Suiza HS.404 20mm machine guns. Due to the increased weight of the Mk.IIc equipped with a cannon, air combat with fighter aircraft became difficult, but it was operated as a fighter-bomber for close air support or a ground attack aircraft. In North Africa and the Burma front, the aircraft was also called Trop (Tropical), with improved filter equipment and strengthened coolers, and painted to prevent fading due to strong sunlight.
