Mi Amigo Lotus (Friendship Lotus) is a lovely, lively lotus with huge, 10 inch blooms!  Flowers have sparkling, pink-red color over the petals with white at the base of the petals.  Green receptacles, bright-yellow stamens and handsome green foliage are the perfect complements to this attractive lotus. Lotus Planting Instructions

Plant in a wide (24-48 inch or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the surface of the soil and place your lotus tuber in the trench, being careful not to damage the growth tips. Carefully cover all but the growth tips with an inch or two of soil and add a few inches of water over the soil. DO NOT FERTILIZE! Place your lotus container in a sunny location where it will receive at least 8 hours of sunlight per day. In a week or two you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water, soon you will have aerial leaves.

Lotus Fertilizing Instructions

Once you have aerial leaves growing out of the water, you may fertilize your lotus with 4-6 fertilizer tabs per month, from June through September. Simply push the fertilizer tabs into the soil about one inch deep, being careful not to damage the root.
