A pet carrier you don't mind being seen with. Sculpted, embossed, and folds flat into the cupboard when it's not earning its keep.

The PawShell is built around a single idea: a carrier should look like an object, not a piece of pet equipment. The shell is a single moulded piece of EVA — the same closed-cell foam you find in good camera cases — pressed into a soft dome and embossed on the front with a single oversized paw print. There is no logo. There is no slogan. There is the paw, and the shape, and the colour.

Inside, your cat or small dog has a quiet, mesh-ventilated den. Outside, it's a thing you'd happily carry through a coffee shop.

At a glance

  • Moulded EVA hard-shell — holds its shape, lightweight, water-resistant
  • Open size 42 × 26 × 35 cm — for cats and small / toy-breed dogs
  • Folds flat to 42 × 5 × 35 cm for storage between trips
  • Embossed paw front — sculpted, no printing or logos
  • Mesh ventilation across the top and a side window with zip flap
  • Reinforced top carry handle
  • Two colours — red, black
  • Free worldwide delivery, fully tracked

A shell, not a bag

Most soft carriers collapse the moment you set them down. The PawShell doesn't. The closed-cell EVA gives it structure — the kind of structure that means a 4 kg cat sitting against the wall doesn't bow the side outward, and a wedge of magazines stacked on top in an Uber doesn't squash the roof down. It holds.

And then, when you don't need it, it folds. Press the sides together and the whole thing flattens to the depth of a hardback book. It slides behind the bookshelf. It slides under the sofa. It does not live in the middle of your hallway.

Built for the small ones

Inside dimensions of 42 × 26 × 35 cm. That's a carrier sized deliberately for cats, kittens, toy breeds, puppies and older small dogs — anything up to roughly 4–5 kg. Your pet should be able to stand up, turn around, and lie down without their back touching the top.

If you're on the fence about size, measure your pet from chest to base of tail and from shoulder to ground, and add a few centimetres for comfort. If you're moving anything bigger than a small terrier, this isn't your carrier — look at our larger soft-sided options.

Ventilation done quietly

The mesh sits in two places. Across the curved top of the shell, a row of slim vents lets warm air rise out — important on summer journeys and in heated cars. On the side, a fully-meshed window panel zips back to give your pet a clear view, and zips closed if they're nervous and prefer the den effect.

For most cats and small dogs, the side panel is the difference between a calm carrier ride and a vocal one.

A few honest notes on travel and use

Car travel: the rigid shell is not a substitute for a crash-tested restraint. For car journeys, route a seatbelt through the top handle, or use a dedicated dog car booster (like our PupRide) instead.

Air travel: always check your specific airline's published in-cabin pet policy before booking. Cabin pet rules and dimension limits vary by carrier, and many short-haul UK and European airlines don't carry pets in cabin at all.

Always supervise your pet while inside the carrier. Don't leave the carrier in direct sunlight or in a hot car.

Care

Wipe clean with a damp cloth — the EVA shell shrugs off water, splashes, and the inevitable accident. Air dry only. Avoid bleach and solvent-based cleaners (they break down the foam over time). The fabric mesh side panel can be brushed clean with a soft brush or wiped with a barely-damp cloth.

Frequently asked

What size pet does this fit?

Cats, kittens, puppies, toy breeds and small dogs — typically up to about 4–5 kg. Internal dimensions are 42 × 26 × 35 cm. Your pet should be able to stand, turn and lie down comfortably. Not suitable for medium or large breeds.

Is the shell genuinely rigid?

Yes — the EVA construction means it holds its shape under normal handbag-pressure. It's not crashproof and it's not crush-tested for heavy weights, but it won't collapse the way a soft fabric carrier does the moment you set it down or stack something on top.

How does it fold?

Press the front and back panels gently together and the carrier collapses to a flat shape roughly 42 × 5 × 35 cm — about the depth of a hardback book. Easy to slide into a wardrobe, behind a bookshelf or under the sofa between trips.

Is it airline approved?

Cabin pet rules vary by airline and route, and most UK and short-haul European carriers don't carry pets in cabin at all. We don't claim airline approval because that promise would be different on every flight. Always check your specific carrier's in-cabin pet policy before booking.

Can I use it in the car?

It's not a crash-tested restraint. For car travel, secure the carrier on the back seat by routing the seatbelt through the top handle, or use a dedicated car booster (like our PupRide) or a tested harness restraint.

Red or black?

Both are the same carrier with the same dimensions. Black is the more discreet choice — it reads as a structured shoulder bag at first glance. Red is a deliberate statement piece and photographs beautifully on social. Pick whichever matches you.

My puppy’s favorite fetch toy!
Size: Small
Update Aug 27, 2024: After 10 months, these are still his favorite ball. He’s obsessed with fetching and plays with them all day. They do bounce really high. Unfortunately, the small size aren’t available for sale anywhere anymore. I tried the medium size, and he has a bit of trouble hanging on to them, but he manages. Weirdly, he prefers the orange one, but he also plays with the blue one. My 7 month old Shih Tzu puppy loves to fetch, and these are his new favorites. They’re small enough to fit in his mouth, and they are made of hard plastic, so he’s able to hold on to them. They have a lot of bounce, and this adds to the fun for him. I highly recommend them.

Genuinely bummed that these great balls can’t stand up against my Chloè.
Size: Medium
I love all the Chuckit brand of balls. I found that the Strabo and glow balls in the Chuckit line are the softest, and as such, don't last as long as the rest of Chuckit line of balls. Having said that, they do last longer than than every other brand I've tried (and I do believe I’ve tried every brand available on the market today.) The strato balls do bounce higher than any of the other balls in the Chuckit line. They really are a good value.

Great dog balls at a great price
Size: Medium
The balls are a favorite for my dog. I could have done without the hole through the middle because I don't do treats in balls anyway. My dog loves balls for their own merit. I needed replacement balls for my Nerf Dog Ball launcher. It seems the originals have disappeared from the market. I took a chance because the price is right and this Chuck-it ball works very well so we're liking this ball a lot. So far my Dachsund, who can destroy a tennis ball (the kind they are selling as Nerf Dog replacements) in 3 minutes has not done any damage to this one so that's a win. I recommend this as a much better ball than the fuzzy tennis balls. I like the colors too since many dog toys are green (which gets lost in the lawn, etc.) or red (even though dogs have red/green color blindness. Blue and orange are good and pretty easy to find. I liked these well enough that this set was my second purchase so I will have spares in case the others are lost.

My Baby loves his new baby!
Size: Medium, Size: Medium
Finally! A ball my 107 lb. pitty/pointer mix can’t destroy. He has torn up every single “indestructible” toy in a day or so until now. He peels fabric and fur off non-rubber toys. He is a 4-legged shredder. I’ve added pictures of him for a size reference of my dog versus this product. I know I had wanted that when shopping for this item. This ball is now his beloved “baby.” He goes absolutely insane looking for it, chewing it, chasing it, and even sleeping with it. He won’t rest unless he knows exactly where it is. It is his only toy, and he is good with that. After getting this home, I tried giving him other choices, but he won’t touch them. I was worried that he would rip it apart by putting his teeth in the holes, but so far, not a scratch. It is soft enough to collapse just enough to keep it from cracking when his jaws crush it but not so soft that he can rip it to sheds. The holes are large enough to prevent a suction or vacuum effect on his tongue or mouth. For his size jaws, it is a perfect fit. Other dogs might have problems with suction or be able to get their teeth in those holes and rip it apart. Who knows? The older version of the Chuckit squeaky ball was his favorite for the year and a half he had it, but the way they make them now, he peels off the orange triangle in hours flat, the squeaker falls out (choking hazard), and then he rips it apart. I’m going to stock up on these. I can’t imagine how crazy he will be if they ever stop production or change the materials.

Great little toy for playful small dogs
These toys are a soft latex kind of material. I would not recommend these for larger dogs who can wreck a tennis ball, or who are rough with toys. The material of these toys lasts quite a while, but does break down in direct sunlight in addition to dog saliva and being left outdoors in inclement weather. My dogs have played with these toys for a week's time with no adverse reactions from the materials. For a better explanation of the toy, see my video. I show a "durable" toy that is at least 12 years old. I show a similar toy to these here, but shaped like a chicken. It is showing the effects of time, and dog love; it was a favorite of my previous pet, and bequeathed to the dogs I now have. This chicken toy will "disappear" soon because its material is breaking down. I highly recommend these toys for dogs who like small toys, soft toys, and toys that squeak. I do not recommend these for dogs who are "chewers" of toys, large dogs who may swallow this toy(it fits in an average woman's palm), for owners who hate squeeking toys, or for a pack of dogs who will bite and pull at this toy. Although it does have stretch, it can be sliced with sharp teeth, and come apart.
