Named for its multinational composition, the Union Brigade consisted of the 1st Royal Regiment of Dragoons (English), the 2nd Regiment of Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys), and the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons (Irish). These troops, mounted on some of the finest horses of the era, were renowned for their discipline and brute force on the battlefield.
